If he excels during the US All American week/game, I'll move him to 5*. I know he's not playing same level competition but how he moves is independent from that. Best two way lineman in this class. This is a guy who challenges early like Rocco. TJ Shanahan has the same type of movement but his Dad wearing an ND hat everyday doesn't seemed to have moved TJ's needle.

Also... does he look like an even better DT prospect? Love how much technique and natural talent he has to get by O linemen instead of simply bull rushing them as he could do every play vs that competition.

Subliminal. Billy doesn't know it, but it's happening.

Not much coming out of the visits yet but Loy’s source said Billy looks great. Re-iterated a second time as well.

Schrauth has always been next level when it comes to physique.

Dude's wide. Much thicker frame than Hinzman and Brunner and there's no bad weight to be found.

Better keep Freeman and Elston away from him cuz he looks like an NFL DT... right. now.

Yea, his DT film is legit. I wonder if there has been any thought about that.

I think he's basically been a silent for a while.

Being a hat on the table never works for ND...

Being a hat on Dad's head on the other hand is a Bingo!

I disagree strongly that Lucas is the most important target in this class or even in my top 5. Schrauth however would be in my top 3.

TIFWIW, a poster on BGI posted that Billy has been telling everyone at his school that he’s been going to Madison since March. And apparently this poster has been stating as much on the board.

Singer was way off here.

He made it sound as if Schrauth was a lock to ND for months.

He definitely pressed it or gave it a lot of coverage. At one point, I know he mentioned this was a visit away from a commitment just because he wanted to do it in-person.

But, he wasn’t alone in it, just might have talked about it more.

He also seemed to talk with the most confidence regarding the Wiscy 3 as a group.

Love the work he’s doing though.

Yeah we aren't getting any of this Wisconsin kids unless something changes. To be honest, people I have talked to following this recent rash of OVs are wayyyyyy more pessimistic than some of the sunshine pumpers on a LOT of these prospects.

Hopefully you are not talking about Snead. Singleton I could handle b/c I never thought we would land him anyway. But I can't handle Snead, and Merriweather.

Ugh, that doesn’t sound good. Is the staff just misreading a lot of these prospects?

People I have talked to feel very good about Snead, Merriweather, and CJ Williams (with visit pending). I think this is the common sentiment among the pros too so it shouldn't be a surprise. There are a lot of other guys they're still optimistic on too but I'll save that for another thread.

We need to kick Wisconsin's teeth in this year.

The June pay site projections were always ridiculous to have as an expectation. The Schrauth was an unexpected hit given the unanimous sentiment but the way the overall month has gone I think has been a reasonable if you take what the pay sites say when they’re overly optimistic and scale back expectations a few notches.

For a lot of pros, their primary sources are on the staff. So the staff could feel good, but if another team's coaches also feel equally good then you have to consider that the kid is receptive to both schools and going to have to tell someone "no". And most interviews with pros kids (and their families) are not going to tip their hands at all.

Coaches and friends are usually the best people to talk to, and without going too OT there are lots of ways that stuff leaks out in private and public.

I think a lot of the prediction // crystal ball system is misunderstood by some consumers. Every time an analyst puts in a "crystal ball" that going to get you clicks, and then people also take that as some sort of signal that the school "should" get that player. So if they don't, it's disappointment. And if they do, it's "oh yeah we knew this was coming." This is kind of backwards. It's inherently a system that should have competing sources (i.e. optimistic coaches or other sources from different schools) used as a barometer of what professionals think.

The crazy thing is I didn't realize anyone even felt that good about Brunner or Hinzman. Schrauth there had always been a lot of chatter but the other two had been pretty quiet and reading some articles after their visits I didn't get the feeling we led. So losing on Schrauth would suck because I like him a lot and it seems there was reason to be confident in the staff's ability to make that happen, but I get the feeling that those three have all been sold on staying in state and being Wisconsin's best OL class ever or something to that effect.

I do still think Wagner had a great visit though and a class of Wagner, Tanona, Chan, and Craig would be a pretty damn good haul though still an incredibly tough pull.

Anyone without their head in the clouds should know that OL from WI are not gimmes, even when they seems like they could be.

Yea, it seems like a very prideful state. People from Wisconsin seem to love Wisconsin. Simple as.

Two phenomenons happening that make me think, huh?

- One what you said, guys like Hinzman, Brunner, etc that have been long time leans elsewhere and we’re suddenly disappointed when that is still the case?

- Two, a lot of these kids saying I’m committing in the Fall or idk when I’m committing and the almost widespread reporting oh he won’t wait till then he will pop in June. Sure a couple kids I’d expect to pop but why are we surprised some of them are sticking to exactly what they said?

It would not surprise me if we was not apart of this class. I think he stays home to play for Wisconsin. ND is in good shape with the offense line, he probably has a easier path to playing time at Wisconsin.
