I feel like Price could’ve benefited from another year but good luck & thank you to this young man.
The irish fan inside me agrees and was hanging on the hopes he'd return. I don't believe even Irish fans fully grasp the lost opportunity here. The explosive talent he had was not fully on display because he was sharing the backfield with a Heisman contender and one ball to share... arguably, he is the reason Love did not get the Heisman but for good reasons as he was so good there was no reason to lean too heavily just on Love. All the love for Love but man, what a ride it would have been to see him as the feature back every game. Ultimately, it's just a game and these are college kids, so if he felt it was the best next step, good for him and onward to hopefully a fantastic career in the NFL.

He's projected as like the #2 or #3 RB in the draft, how much more could he benefit? And he has already lost a year to injury. I would have loved for him to stay but it makes total sense for him to go. We'll be fine with the next guys up.

I thought if he would’ve stayed he could’ve been what Love was this season & possibly raised his draft stock a bit. I get why he’s leaving but for both Irish fan reasons & others I thought he could’ve benefited from another year. Similar reason to (outside of discipline) Floyd coming back for 2011 when he could’ve left with Rudolph after the 2010 season.

I think the idea of a 2 RB set is overblown without a dual threat QB.
Well, love was as good or better than any of our receivers at catching in traffic. I’m having him on the field would attract at least two defensive players attention, which would make handoff to Price much more interesting. It’s about getting the best people that you have on the field at the same time. We won’t break in any records with our wide receiver room so there was absolutely zero excuse for not running those two studs at all time.

That’s just a waste of potential

I don’t agree that what you described is how defense works.

And I don’t agree that our wide receiver room (and big ass TE) weren’t capable of challenging defenses all over the field.

I think it was mostly high-risk/mid-reward.

Yeah, Price being the #1 would probably bolster his stock a little, but playing a 5th year at RB makes him a bit less desirable, and it runs the risk if he gets hurt again, that may end up hurting his stock.

There is zero reason for either of these boys to come back if they have serious NFL ambitions. They're the top two backs in the draft. Your body has a limited number of carries in it at the highest levels. Both Love and Price have had knocks during their college careers, Price in particular with the Achilles.

Having a RB like Price for 4 years is basically the equivalent of getting another high-end position player for 5 years. The runway is just too short for the position. We were lucky to have him for this long.

When you say he "could've been what Love was this season", I think you mean he could've been RB1? Not that he would've somehow been J. Love? I'm a huge fan of Price but he's not Love. Price is an excellent RB and we were spoiled to have two of them but no amount of snaps would've changed Price into Love.

Honestly, I think it's the best possible time for him to go. I think Price benefitted from keeping tread off the tires and being able to exploit defenses after Love had softened them up. The NFL is a much harder place to find yards. Hope Price gets taken early and gets a lot of guaranteed money. He was an excellent player and representative of ND.

Tore his achilles, worked hard to come back. Took limited snaps the following year then played 2 years behind/with J. Love and still got his spotlight. Also had some massive kickoff returns for us.

Big loss to have both Love and Price leave. Was hoping Price would come back.

But, all the best to you, Jadarian, thanks for the memories, and represent well in the NFL!

Being the #1 and having a great year could actually hurt his stock because of the increased mileage. He’s already proved he’s a Porsche.

That’s what I was saying he would’ve been RB 1 with Williams at RB tearing up Defenses hopefully en route back to the playoffs.

I see Price being Kyren Willams 2.0 in the NFL.

Hopefully he's drafted with somewhat of an O-line. Although, he's still going to be a great return player. I think the NFL style kickoff's are in Price's favor IMO.

Would have loved to see him get the ball 25 times in a game. Some guys just get better the more they touch the ball. I remember Alan Pinket carrying the ball 40 times a game.

Yeah, I do too. They could just keep handing the ball off to Pinkett play after play. Unfortunately for the Irish, I remember Tony Dorsett (Pitt) a decade beforehand getting the ball about that many times when they played the Irish and we just couldn't tackle his ass.
