Notre Dame offered him $1.5M to stay, and was prepared to offer $2.5. He said he was set on the draft.
This and Love leaving are truly reasons 1a and 1b on why I don't know that I'll ever get over the playoff snub. Didn't think a 2 am blowout of Stanford where both barely played in the second half would be the last time we got to see this duo. An absolute gut punch.
Was Young going to be ready to start the year? I thought we were looking at October? He will be the second RB taken in the draft. Anywhere else in America, he's a Heisman Finalist too.
I'm a big J-Price fan. This is the right move. Now, it's a Williams-Young 2026 ticket. Let's ride.
Not sure. I thought I read a while back he'd be rehabbed for the 2026 season. Sounds like he's up against it either way.Was Young going to be ready to start the year? I thought we were looking at October?
injury happened during camp. so he should be on track for camp this yearWas Young going to be ready to start the year? I thought we were looking at October?

Edited for accuracy and honoring a friend of the site1.5-2.5 million is a lot but well deserved we can invest that money in 10-20 DT's
Bumping this. If this was on a podcast do you mind sharing which, or where did you see it?
Best RB2 ND may have ever had.
James will be healthy for spring ball. How does Young compare to James Jr.?? I see on the stat sheet that James didn't do too bad in his carries this year. I know Young had more yards and carries.... but, will James be another JP? Young seems to be a bruiser-type with moves......
I don’t think it puts you in the minority. The majority likely agree with you. The problem is the minority tend to be vocal about player X playing significant snaps as a freshman. I usually just roll my eyes and move on since that comment ends up getting made for 50% of the incoming class. Then the two freshmen come in and we see what they can do. I'm not one to expect much from true freshmen and have tempered expectations, which probably puts me in the minority.

Young should be ready to go for summer preseason camp. They'll probably try to get him leaner too. It will be interesting to see how it shakes out. Young's injury situation would lead me to believe James has an advantage right now.

I will never understand why ND didnt cook up any 2RB sets for those guys. Just makes no sense
Exactly. Any true freshmen getting legit reps that matter must be REALLY good when you consider how the staff has upgraded the roster talent in the Post BK Era.I am not worried about the freshman. We are getting better talent at all positions and the young guys are fighting for time. Willams had great year for a freshman and the rolls he was put into.
CoolJames did earn praise from the staff all fall. I think we'll be fine
