I saw all I needed in the UGa game. He got 3*'s to match what Bama's 5*'s did in Tuscaloosa.
I don't know if he can match Lea's halftime adjustments but I believe if he's here long enough to coach Kollie and the '22 LB's in their prime, I think we'll be blown away.
He'll make adjustments as effectively as Lea did, I would guess. UC wasn't playing the same caliber of team each week as ND, but when an opponent found something that looked like a chink in the armor, UC would lock it up after a quarter or a half just like Lea's ND defenses.
The UC/UCF game in 2019 is a great example of Freeman (1) coming in with an elite gameplan, (2) adjusting on the fly to continue giving the offense fits, and (3) predicting the adjustments the opposition is gonna make, and being ready for those, too.
In terms of recruiting, when Freeman left UC, the Bearcats lost their top two defensive recruits almost immediately... and that's with Luke Fickell still being there as the head guy, and a major part of the defensive coaching staff overall. (They've since added a 4-star DT, so Fickell can still turn it on, but the writing is on the wall about who at UC was securing the top-end guys in general).
