I’ve read/heard some others state that he is looking very impressive in the safety position which is a great development!
I’m excited to see MM coaching the entire back end. He’s an incredible teacher. It is nice to see young guys developing into potential multi year starters with depth everywhere.

ND is just different that their two grad student DL on significant NIL deals are missing practices for class.

I really like the prospect of Shuler starting opposite Watts. Idk how he fits into it when the defense has their full compliment of players between Clark and Heard, but it's a nice development.

I know totally different positions, but nothing's more indicative of the disappointment that has been Tyson Ford's career than not seeing him listed in the first 2 units while Sean Sevillano and Cole Mullins already are.

My understanding is that Biagi is also lending a hand with the safety room since he has prior experience there. Hopefully that will help with the workload for Mickens so that they can teach efficiently!

Pat Coogan was in a foot-scooter.
The II guys said Coogan was practicing with the 1s. Mike Bernadino erroneously reported Coogan entered practice on a scooter but it was Leonard's. Coogan was likely just goofing around and giving it a test drive.

Here's their analysis of what they saw in limited viewing of practice today:

Most notable:
  • Minchey was with the 1s, Carr was with the 2s, Guidugli served as the 3rd QB
  • Price is most likely going to be the lead back despite DMC downplaying that likelihood. Love will get plenty of touches too but is likely going to have a much more versatile role as a receiving option.
  • Absher was with the 2s at LT.
  • Lewis was with the 1s as the boundary CB to fill in for Morrison. Mickey and Gray are still battling for the field CB spot.

So, nobody is actually competing with Jagusah there and he's locked in as the starter at LT?
So far, the #1 OL unit has been the same for all the practice sessions the media has observed - LT Jagusah, LG Coogan, C Craig, RG Schrauth, RT Baker - but that doesn't mean there isn't an ongoing competition. Craig seems to be a lock at C. Jagusah is likely a lock at LT but the RT is still open between Baker and Wagner and Spindler still has a shot to get his job back at RG once he's 100% healthy (even if most people think Schrauth is the favorite).

It's important to note that last spring and early fall the 1st OL unit seemed to be set but then Coogan and Spindler won starting G spots when Schrauth and Baker (if I remember correctly) were too inconsistent. The point is, it's nice to know who's running with 1s at OL during the spring but that doesn't mean the competition is over and there won't be changes heading into fall camp.

I think it was pretty obvious Billy the last 2-3 games played better than coogan or spindler did at any point in the season. Hopefully the competition is more between coogan and spindler.

I also hope they are trying someone else out besides wagner/baker at RT because i'm not sure how you could be confident in either.

That's true, and I'm not doubting the true G competition might be between Coogan and Spindler, but the last 2-3 games last year were against relatively weak competition so I'm not so sure Schrauth distanced himself from the other 2. He's probably a favorite to start but I think Rudolph will keep his options open.

Agree other than I think Oregon State had their entire starting dline when we played them. They were good, so billy passed that test at least. Baker struggled vs Oregon State.

I think Baker has the most to prove on the OL, so I think we both agree there. He has to be significantly better than he has been if he's going to be the starter. Hopefully, his strength and technique are improving.

I know baker is a big dude, but in the practice video today you see wagner going against baker in a drill, it shows how small wagner is still. It honestly looked like a DE going against a tackle. I just hope they are repping Absher at RT too because if wagner isn't big enough and baker struggles at A&M, they need to move fast.

If they're not giving snaps at LT to Wagner or Baker, and they don't seem interested in trying any of the guards outside then I think ND has basically made their decision. (I'm not hating on Absher, it's just that he's even less experienced than Jagusah).

I don't think anybody would be surprised Jagusah is there when they head to College Station but my reading of the tea leaves is that the team must feel pretty confident in that spot if they're letting the competitions at other spots remain limited to those spots.

I've been saying Price is the best back!
The RB room is STACKED!

I said in another post that I think Jagusah is likely a lock at LT. Probably not as much of a lock as Craig at C but close. However, a lot of people think his best position is at guard, so if Rudolph and MF also think that then there is an outside chance - even if it is remote - that they are at least considering the possibility that some combination of Baker/Wagner/Absher could work themselves into the LT and RT spots which would free up Jagusah to play his more natural position. I'm not saying that is going to happen. I think it's unlikely, but that's the only reason he's not as close to a 100% lock as Craig to start where he's currently lining up.

Also, the reason I think it's notable that Absher is running with the the 2s at LT is because there were doubts that he's a natural LT in college, especially since his HS didn't pass much and his pass pro was rather suspect. Most of the recruiting beat thought he would need a lot of development before getting into the 2-deep. Everything could change when Lambert arrives in the summer, but he seems to have the jump on guys like Prescod, Knapp, and Jones and I think that's a good sign of how good he might be moving forward.

Or like?
View attachment 3055560

Do you think we can still beat TA&M or make the playoffs if Baker even gives up one sack next year or doesn't make first team unanimous all american?

Oh dear!!

Probably the worst performance we've had from a tackle in decades. Yes a few years ago, and yes he might be better "I hope" but he didn't look it vs osu
