Harumph. Fullbacks. This makes no sense to me, but that's probably why it'll happen. Just go to 16 and call it a day.

I gamble as a hobby with the expectation of the $50-100 or so I put in at the beginning of the season to be gone by the end. But my yearly buy of the Steelers over win total pays off as a nice bump to get me into the post season gambling every year. I think it's like 4/5 of the past years they've hit the over in win total. It was 8.5 this year which was hilariousI have a $50 parlay I placed maybe 5/6 weeks ago. It's for the Steelers to win the SB AND ND to win the Natty. It pays like 24k
Belonging to a conference has become enough. More than winning games. It's bullshit. Optics, bias, reputation, smoke and mirrors. Missouri and Kentucky suddenly don't waltz into the other three P4 conferences and win them.I don't care how many teams they expand it to at this point. But they absolutely HAVE TO get rid of conference affiliations for football. It's causing way too much bias, which is ridiculous given the realignment.
Take the Top 40 each year, with options for relegation and promotion. Divide them into 4 divisions. Schedule division play like the NFL does. Establish playoff rankings as objectively as possible given the results on the field. Seed the teams according to their respective rankings.
Harumph. Fullbacks.
Doing this will probably hurt the lower tier (FCS etc) schools and the annual dogshit teams supported by big conferences due to payouts from conference affiliation. Im ok with some pain due to reorganzing and acknowledging CFB for what it is.... the NFLs minor leaguesYeah get rid of the conferences and set up divisions like the NFL does.
We can call them things like the Pacific Division, the Atlantic Coast Division, the Southeastern Division, the Southwest Division, the M1dw0st Division, the Mountain West Division, and the Big East Division.
Even the CFP bros know that the old conference affiliations ruled. That's why they manipulated the rankings to set up OG Pac-12 versus Big 10 in the Rose Bowl.
Because with 14 you preserve the auto-bids for the SEC and B1G.This makes no sense to me, but that's probably why it'll happen. Just go to 16 and call it a day.
I saw someone posting about a "NIT" CFB playoff bracket for the next 12 teams lol....This makes no sense to me, but that's probably why it'll happen. Just go to 16 and call it a day.
And there will be zero talk of reducing the # of regular season games b/c…revenueSaw an article saying the selection committee is already eyeing first round bye selection process and adding 2 more teams by 2026.
🤣. SEC babies are upset by not getting first round byes and also need two more spots.
yep!Because with 14 you preserve the auto-bids for the SEC and B1G.
The cynic in me says that if you look at whats happened since BCS there has been incremental changes year in and year out that is inexorably leading to a top tier Superconference based on tv viewership/revenue and schools with large fandoms (school revenue) like a Premier League for College football. Im ok with this as long as they do relegation and promotion and underperforming teams cant just stay in place. And there will be zero talk of reducing the # of regular season games b/c…revenue
They will hold out forever to end CCG b/c…revenue

Let me be clear, too, I'm specifically talking about the SEC. It has truly taken on a life of it's own at this point. Texas came in and in year one lost to UGA twice. .500 OU humiliated Alabama. We've talked before about how they've sent their second tier to bowl games over the years only to lose to Northwestern.
When you look at their record against the other conferences, three schools are carrying that weight. Their collective championships reside with Urban's Florida, Saban's Alabama, LSU and now UGA. Cam Newton was a blip on the radar.
We should all be rooting for 14 or 16. It eliminates byes that we aren’t eligible for anyways.
Would basically look like the current bracket except seeds 3 and 4 would have to play first round games and not get byes. Only seeds 1 and 2 get byes. What does the bracket look like for a 14 team playoff? Seems like it would have to have byes, right?
The answer is 16 IMO. Can’t have more than 4 rounds without it getting absurd, so that’s the max. It eliminates the byes and lets you seed evenly. We should all be rooting for 14 or 16. It eliminates byes that we aren’t eligible for anyways.
I doubt everyone outside of the SEC and B1G would agree to eliminate the conference stipulations without expanding the field. The byes are only due to conference affiliations, right? If college football becomes independent, ND's lack of a CCG is irrelevant, and they should be ranked according to their resume. Simulated BCS rankings for this season would've had ND at #3. In a 12-team format w/o conference stipulations, ND gets the bye.

How would there be byes at 16?I was just commenting on the part of your post that said ND isn't eligible anyways. There's a reason. Keeping the field at 12 or expanding it doesn't mean anything unless 1) they do away with conference affiliation or 2) ND joins a conference or 3) ND is just ok being perpetually seeding beyond the byes.
How would there be byes at 16?
Yeah I'm just saying it's better for us if there are less or no byes because we can't get one of them anyways. Reduces the chances of us facing a team that's more well rested than us.Sorry I just meant if they create a bracket with byes. I'm just speaking in a general sense, I guess.
You're saying expand to 16 so there won't be any byes at all? I agree with that. But they'll still find a way to keep ND's rankings down because of the CCG aspect.

Pretend you have a hypothetical best team in the country that has a 75/25 chance of beating any other team they play. Clear-cut the best team.16 with the first two rounds on campus is the way to go.

Natty odds have moved significantly in our favor since the Beck announcement.
Copy the fcs playoff and remove 2 games from the regular season IMHOThe answer is 16 IMO. Can’t have more than 4 rounds without it getting absurd, so that’s the max. It eliminates the byes and lets you seed evenly.
