There’s essentially zero reason for any transfer that’s worth anything to come to ND
Agree. Going to overpay for mediocre players.
ND needs to make the Ivy League a semi-pro club or continue shopping down the DII aisle and under the radar guys.

Was joking with my MSU friends that ND would take Xavier Booker off their hands, since they wanted him out so bad. Hes now in the portal.

100% Understand the straight apathy most on this board feel toward the basketball program right now.

Ten years ago I watched every game that I could start to finish.
This past decade I have found myself watching less and less every single season.
It is incredibly hard to get emotionally attached to a team when you know it is likely half the roster won't be there the next season.

However, if Coach Shrews and his staff were able to secure 2-3 high end portal additions (Davidson, Booker, McGriff) etc...
The team on paper would be one of the more "talented" this program has ever assembled.

I understand recruiting rankings only mean so much, but it would at least give me hope that next season Coach Shrews can get this program back going in the right direction.

Big week ahead waiting on these decisions, the athletic administration needs to put the money behind thier words that they want to put a competitive basketball program on the floor next season. Pay up

According to Blue and Gold Burton is returning. That's a huge boost. I know it was speculated but this confirms it.
The athletic department sent an email announcing it at 1et, with a link for season ticket orders.

Tae Davis to Oklahoma.

Pretty good spot for him. Certainly makes more sense than Koval to LSU.

These "he's not transferring!" tweets by the ND MBB account are so damn cringy. I guess a lot schools are doing it now but man just feels embarrassing.
I think pretty much every school is doing it these days with so much roster churn.

3rd team in three years. I am so over this stuff. Impossible to fall in love with a team or player when they change teams more than underwear.
I hope the whole systems implodes on itself.

His dad just got fired by Denver. There has to be a decent chance he never goes to CSU now.

That would be typical of today's players. Would love to know the average amount of stops a player makes in today's college landscape. I think three would be a good over/under number.

I am guessing his Dad signed off on him transferring to CSU to play for Coach Ali. Ali has a track record of getting the full potential out of guys and putting them in the League. David Roddy, Isiah Stevens and he turned Nique Clifford, who had a similar HS pedigree as Booth but floundered his first two seasons as CU, into a likely first rounder. I think Booth is hoping Ali can do the same for him. He is known as a shooting guru and Booth has been struggling with his. Ali turned Clifford into a 50%/40% from the floor guy.

That’s a really nice pick up but I’m curious how he fits into the offense. Shrews’s offense has seemed to be heavily perimeter focused outside of the 5 and this guy has no perimeter game. Decent slasher and finisher with good post game, but nothing mid range even.

If they can get one more of this caliber at the 2 or 3, I’ll at least go into next year intrigued about this team.

Wish there was some film of this guy. Trying to understand how he gets all those rebounds.
Not much of a mystery as to the 42% foul shooting. Must be a post player without a mid range shot.

His film showed a strong person playing against less strong persons, who lost the first body bump battle with him. It also showed a person who makes a surprisingly quick first two steps towards the basket following screens (and teammates willing to find him.) It then shows a person who doesn't startle, but grabs passes with good hands, assesses the area, and does what's necessary at that point without rush or panic. One of those things is to slam it (rather than finesse it) when that's the right thing. He looked big in the chest and lower body to me, so as to collide (even minorly) and keep opponent on-the-ground, while he still jumped. (there's an art to that.) Film showed no shooting over about 4-5 feet away.

additionally: he never took a 3-point shot all year and can barely shoot free throws, so there's a big shooting problem there (I've seen this exact phenomenon in players who play so physically hard that they can't relax at the line.) The idea that he's one of those all-the-time hard workers is supported by him being a unanimous conference first team defensive player (the only unanimous one.)

Lastly, these guys play zero top level opponents --- their schedule had only one at the first real game of the year vs Stanford. He scored well enough but had his poorest rebounding day against them. ... so definitely mixed vibes. I always like work ethic, smarts, and a cool head, but it would be nice to be able to shoot if you're playing basketball.

2 years of eligibility. Seems like a good off the bench piece that can turn into a starter. Had a 42 point game this year and was in double figures in every conference game.

Maybe not the level of transfer we're hoping for, but Brown + Towt is better than Alocco and the other 2 from last year.

Seen him play a few times. Not somebody I ever thought looked like they were ready for a jump above ivy level competition. Former sixers coach Brett Browns son. His stats obviously aren't terrible so maybe he's better than I'm giving him credit for, but Major pass.

Brown committed to Davidson.
