I understand being concerned about Armstrong but Van Dyke’s numbers look fine.

EDIT: I mean, they aren't great but they don't set off alarm bells. Meanwhile, his numbers in 2021 for a mostly functional team were very good.
Tyler Van Dyke, from Miami?

At what?

Handing the ball off?

Throwing swing passes?

Throwing 25 yard bombs down the field?

We can do better. Is he solid? sure. But he's not even the top 5. Apparently heading to Cincinnati anyway.

Please tell me Mertz isn’t one you still consider better. He turned back into a pumpkin Saturday

I was not impressed by McNamara AT ALL the first three weeks of the season.

Maybe he was pressing too much due to the competition with McCarthy... but he was putting everything beyond 15 yards into the turf, or air-mailing it towards the boundary. McCarthy was clearly the better option for them, and Harbaugh should be lambasted for even carrying that competition into the season.

McNamara *might* be an improvement over Pyne in that he can throw his check-downs over the DL without as much fear of the ball getting batted down. But if he's going to struggle to push the ball down field, we might as well stick with 21/22 base personnel with Buchner at QB, fully embracing the run-heavy scheme, and try to get a transfer QB with enough mobility to run the same offense if [when] Buchner goes down again.

Maybe Rees met TVD when he was in South Beach in January.

Gattis is what some think Rees is, the worst. Harbaugh took his responsibilities away and really was the winner of the Broyles last year not Gattis. TVD will be better elsewhere.

We’d be 9 - 1 with McNamara. Potentially 10 - 0. He would not be my first choice. Probably not even my 5th choice. But I’m not above taking a QB off as 13 - 1 season that included beating OSU at home. Something we’d like to do next year.
If Rees has any beef with McNamara for how things went down back in the day, that's all that really matters. It was almost five years ago when he decommitted. A bunch of jaded fans with an opinion mean zero to me.

If Freeman and Rees deemed this a fit, bring it on.

Hudson Card just seems like a pipe dream. He could probably go just about anywhere.

Van Dyke and Armstrong have been so bad this year that they cant be your top options

As a South Florida native and frequent attendee of Canes games (wife is a UM grad), the scheme has been the problem for Van Dyke. Gattis has been heavily criticized for trying to fit round pegs into square holes, but when he's let Van Dyke cook, he looked very good before getting injured against Duke (350 yards with 63% completion rate against VT, nearly 500 yards and 75% completion rate against UNC).

He was excellent playing in Lashlee's RPO system before the latter left for SMU, and I think he's a perfect fit for running the offense Tommy and MFMF want to run. I'd be thrilled if he transfers in to ND next season, as he'd have a lot to prove and would be an immediate improvement over everyone currently in the QB room.

LOL. If only wishing made it so.

Honestly, the guy was pretty close to unstoppable when he was running Lashlee's offense, and I normally make fun of Miami fans for how they overrate their players, but TVD was the real deal in 2021:

I'd take him in a heartbeat and think he'd do very well running Rees' offense.

Over Cade? Maybe

I was probably wrong, but personally believe a change of scenery could be good for him. Better options on table before him though.

Is Max Duggan definitely entering the draft?

I wouldn’t think so. Assume he’d be back at TCU or transfer. I saw something maybe Prister that implied he didn’t like BK is why ND and him fizzled unexpectedly quick.

My Duggan take hasn’t aged the best, but I still would stand by it wouldn’t shock me if he transferred and he’s a good not great QB that was outperforming his true level earlier. They definitely won’t go to Morris this year though that take aged bad.

Duggan would be great for Buchner to learn from.

knew someone would do this.

So you want a guy just a little bit better then Drew? A solid game manager. Got it. Personally I'd love a guy who can rip it.

Anybody know if Jayden de Laura is a junior or a RS senior? Watched their game against UCLA and he's a lot of fun. Reminds me a bit of Baker at OU.

His 2021 numbers are remarkably identical to what Pyne is doing in 2022 and (unlike the other transfer possibilities we’ve discussed) McNamara had a better supporting cast than Pyne does right now.

64.2% 7.9 Y/A 15TDs 6INTs
63.1% 7.6 Y/A 18TDs 5INTs

The difference is McNamara is naturally a game manager at best and accepts that usually in his play. Pyne doesn’t do the things at times to just accept that fate. I’d rather that 81% completion vs Navy took a hit if he just threw the damn ball away at times for example. Winning plays win you the Stanford game. Look at the OSU game last year, nothing pops off the page but he did the bare minimum to just compliment his D and run game. A couple key passing plays nothing more, usually nothing less (I think he threw 1 1H pick).

We’d get pumped in the CFP just like Michigan did last year and we have with a limited QB in the past, but again he’s down on the list for me, but he makes an appearance if needed.

Where did that Miller Moss guy end up? He was highly ranked out of high school. Is he in a log jam at USC?

If you like food and food-relayed opinions, I highly recommend the Dante Moore thread.

Yup, a few of my Texas buds say he's a goner (thier opinion) after this year and they're OK w/ that. They're all over that Arch D righ now.
Arch could be legit and still not live up to expectations there,… I kind of feel for the kid
