Bears trading first pick to the Panthers. Looks like the Colts will get stuck with Levis or Richardson. Better see if the can trade for Jackson.

Second hand here but sounds like Chicago Sport talk radio was saying Carolina might want Richardson.

Richardson is so raw, but I would love to see the Panthers take him. It would be such a Reich move.

If Smith-ngigba is available at 9 it would be really tough for me as a bears fan for them to not grab him

Obviously the difference in contract is huge, but if you’re a team like the Panthers willing to give up a huge haul for the first QB in this draft, why not just give up the two firsts for a proven QB in Lamar? I actually thought Carolina was a good destination for him.

Especially if they’re moving up to eventually draft AR anyway.

I don’t know where that rumor is coming from but everything I’m seeing is Stroud is the guy at #1

Cardinals at 3 is interesting. They have a QB. Wouldn’t be surprised if a QB needy team jumps the Colts.
I can see the Colts moving up one unless they feel good about any of the four.

Immediately after the trade, Matt Miller said that he was hearing Carolina was all in on Anthony Richardson. Peak draft season.

Because they’d have to give up more than the 2 first rounders (didn’t Browns give up 3 1st’s and more for a guy they knew would be suspended for a long time in Watson?), pay 40-45 million dollars more, get a guy who is starting to have an injury history, and still have a QB that can’t throw.

My big question is why the Bears would mortgage their own future on Justin Fields? No, he hasn’t had the best OL and weapons around him, but in his considerable sample size now, he has fundamental issues playing QB.
I would’ve traded Fields and drafted another guy.

I've watched them all. This is a guy that's going to need to wear the cap, hold the clipboard and learn when he gets into the League. Otherwise he will be gobbled up and become a journeyman or be gone entirely.

In my opinion, CJ Stroud is the top QB prospect and my a wide margin.

Will Levis is the 2023 version of Mitch Trubisky. Wasn’t a winner at the college level. Will play, to some extent, in the NFL. Will get his coach fired in year 2 or 3.

Bryce Young is so small. Historically, Alabama QB’s don’t do well in the NFL. The arm talent is there, but I’m not sure he’ll hold up physically.

Anthony Richardson is/was the guy that blows up at the combine. It happens every year. Anyone who watches college football knows that he’s a long shot to be a successful pro QB. Incredibly risky to take him in the top 10.

Uhhh no if they sign Lamar off the franchise tag that’s called at 2 1st rounders. The issue is that Baltimore could match. I just read that the Bears wanted the trade done before free agency so I guess that was a big factor.

I agree except about Young. Didn’t he weigh in at 203? He processes things faster than the others and that’s what separates him from the other three IMO.

Richardson is a project.

Levis has the arm strength but that’s it.

Young's size has to give any GM pause. I love the guy. He was my team's QB and his brain and arm are top-notch, but being 5' 10" makes him vulnerable.

Right. So the more likely scenario is the Ravens would do sign and trade, or allow him to negotiate another contract.

GM’s would usually rather hone in on their chances than compete against 31 other teams for a player.

Whatever the case, it’s not as simple as just giving up 2 first round picks.

All the other downsides of Jackson are still present as well, and all likely contributed as to why Carolina made the move they did and not get Jackson.

Young clearly bulked for the combine. He’ll likely actually play 190-195 range.

If Young were a little bigger, he’d easily be the best QB prospect since Luck.

His vision, arm, release, accuracy, processing, knowledge of routes, etc. are phenomenal. His ability in the pocket to move his body, keep his vision, regain his vision, and find his guys without an ad-lib are probably something we’ve never seen in college.

He’s also been the anti-Tua as far as taking hits go. It’s difficult to quantify that ability, but that should help mitigate his lack of mass.
The way the rules are in the nfl today, I’m not even sure how much QB weight matters anymore. Sure, it matters. But not like it did 15 years ago.
