I knew week one was going to be stupidly frustrating as soon as they shut Burrow down for the entire preseason and refused to play any offensive starters at any point.

Zac Taylor was conceding that week one in Cleveland would be the starters' preseason game at that point, just like last year against Pittsburgh in week one.

I get it, and it makes sense from a business perspective, particularly with Burrow out, but I absolutely 100% do not agree with it. Burrow apparently won't ever go through a full preseason camp healthy anyway, so you might as well get everyone else involved in the preseason so there are less pieces trying to gel through weeks 1-3.

And when you're in what is probably the best division in football (unless the Steelers are ALSO as bad as they looked, which I doubt), you can't afford to punt on week one for the sake of avoiding the preseason.

Oh Daddy,… rain on me harder!!! I about lost my voice when Garrett finally got that lil prick

I will never come to terms with Cleveland fans talking about opposing QB's while Watson is on their team.

Jordan Love who, in all honesty, probably isn't that good.
The jury is definitely still out on Love and probably will until we have an entire season or two to digest, but I was very impressed with his poise yesterday. Also worth noting that he was without their #1 WR in Christian Watson, and their top two TEs are rookies, his top 2 WRs yesterday was a second year Romeo Doubs and rookie Jayden Reed, not to mention Aaron Jones got hurt with plenty of game time left and JL still put together a long scoring drive.

He passed his first test with flying colors, and this is a very, very young supporting cast for him.

He's good on third down against the Bears. That's about all I know.

I couldn't understand how limited he was until it was third down and he'd find guys wide open down the field. Atrocious scheming by the Bears.

A lot of people seem to think he's talking about Eddie Jackson actually, Pro Bowl guy that disappeared. Either guy probably works though.
Yeah, he could be talking about SEVERAL people in that last bit, but Claypool is definitely towards the top of that list.

NFL preseason mag I had this year still had GB winning the division. Loved their roster even with Love being new starter and a relative unknown. Big victory for the Pack and Love yesterday.

I'm not as high on GB, even as a fan, but hope you're right. I've just learned over the past few years that despire HEAVY investments in the defensive side of the ball, Joe Barry will let us down with his scheme and lack of adjustments at some point (See Minnesota week 1 last year, the Jefferson field day).

I hate admitting this, but I really do believe the Lions are legit and could win 12-13 games this year. The offense is so young and will be tested at some point and we'll see what Jordan Love is made of in those tough moments, but agreed you can't ask for a much better start from Love to start the season. If the Packers made the WC (still a big if this early, IMO), I'd be ecstatic.

I know this is the modern NFL, and Goff has a pretty damn good supporting cast around him... But they have to stop getting into shootouts lol. It just doesn't feel sustainable to constantly have Jared Goff in shootouts.

I could be totally wrong. Goff has always been more solid than some of the haters like to joke. Maybe he's truly a guy that can sustain being in a high-scoring offense. Maybe I'm just too conditioned to believe that Mahomes is the only guy that can keep it up.

I think their defense will be much improved, they made a LOT of moves to shore up that secondary which was the weakest part of their team last year, and they have a solid LB room.

Offensively, I can't give Brad Holmes enough credit, as painful as it is for me to type that. He took over a solid OL and focused early on to make it ELITE, he has done a remarkable job of supporting a middle-tier QB in Jarred Goff and surrounding him with enough weapons, and kudos to Campbell for his OC hire, all to make this thing click for Goff.

The Gibbs draft pick looked like a reach of epic proportions back in April but that due looks like he's going to be a force in this league. David Montgomery a nice addition too.

The new safety from Philly (Gardner-Johnson) made his presence felt week 1 v. KC. He was everywhere. Huge gain for Detroit and loss for Philly.

I don't want to pick on this kid, I LOVED him at ND. But idk what happened to his fire. He seemed to play with a lot of heart when he was Irish...
I think he fell in love with all of the perks of being an NFL player and fell out of love with the grind.

He was decent. I give him a C. Not having someone that can go deep probably contributed to most of the short passes. At times he stood tall in the pocket and other times it looked like he checked down too early. Clearly missed Taylor yesterday. Like 99% of rookie QB's, I expect it will be up and down for him all season

Rodgers went down immediately

There's some irony there, right? Ever since Rogers signed with the Jets, all of the media was doing was reporting on his every action. Then, like popping a balloon the story they thought they had a entire season to report on is gone.

As far as Rogers, I hope it's not too serious.
