Pretty meh early games on Saturday, but good stuff starts at 2:30PM and a great UGA@Bama game late.

Only one more week till the Big10 joins, and we get to see Meatchicken's first loss. Can't wait to row the boat next week.

Wednesday Night
Coastal Carolina at #21 Louisiana (-7.5) 7:30 PM ESPN
-Not a bad lower conference matchup. Both undefeated.

Thursday Night
Georgia State at Arkansas State (-3.5) 7:30 PM ESPN
-A lesser version of Wednesday's Sun Belt matchup

Friday Night
#17 SMU (-6.5) at Tulane 6:00 PM ESPN
#14 BYU (-3) at Houston 9:30 PM ESPN
-Pretty decent matchup of lower conferece undefeateds. I could see either game Friday being an upset.

Saturday Early
-No great early matchups, but perhaps 2-3 close games. If I had to pick an upset, it would be SC, maybe Tulsa.

#15 Auburn (-3.5) at South Carolina 12:00 PM ESPN
#8 Cincinnati (-3) at Tulsa 12:00 PM ESPN2
Kentucky at #18 Tennessee (-6) 12:00 PM SECN
#1 Clemson (-27) at Georgia Tech 12:00 PM ABC
Pittsburgh at #13 Miami (-10.5) 12:00 PM ACCN

Saturday Mid Afternoon
Louisville at #4 Notre Dame (-17) 2:30 PM NBC
-The Ville gives up 34 PPG. That's worse than FSU...
.
LSU at #10 Florida (-13.5) 3:30 PM ESPN
-Poor Ed

#11 Texas A&M (-6.5) at Mississippi State 4:00 PM SECN
-Wouldn't be shocked if the Pirate got back on track

Duke at NC State (-5) 3:30 PM ESPN3
UCF (-3.5) at Memphis 3:30 PM ABC
Ole Miss (-3) at Arkansas 3:30 PM ESPN2
Virginia (-2.5) at Wake Forest 4:00 PM ACCN

Saturday Night
#3 Georgia at #2 Alabama (-6) 8:00 PM CBS
-Wish this was at UGA. Best matchup so far this year.

Boston College at #23 Virginia Tech (-11) 8:00 PM ACCN
-Should be a fun one. First real road test for 5* Phil.

#5 North Carolina (-13) at Florida State 7:30 PM ABC
Southern Mississippi (-4.5) at UTEP 7:30 PM ESPN2

UMass will play their first game of the season Sat afternoon against Ga Southern Sat at 4 PM EST on ESPNU. UMass decided to reverse course and play football this year on Sept 21. The Minutemen will receive $60,000 to play Georgia Southern, accounting for "roughly half of the travel expenses" incurred for the away game contest.

Ga S. rivalry game against App St this Sat was postponed due to Covid outbreak and was looking for an opponent. They had had to cancel a game with Louisiana on Oct 7 due to nineteen players out. With a bye week last week and the App St postponement would not have played anyone for a 21 day period.

First of all, I just want to say I really appreciate this post every week YJ. I literally follow it Saturdays to know that I should be watching. Reps.

Second, I Love the fact that when Lion first started making this weekly post, Cincinnati was sort of a meme joke that he would throw in for selfish reasons... now they are a top 10 team. I understand the circumstances, but still nothing but respect for them coming back without the big east/P5 to help them.

Finally, speaking of Cincy and also BYU, I would wager this is the first time two top 10 teams playing unranked/non P5 teams are both less than touchdown favorites in the same week. Cincy seems criminally low, maybe Lion can shed some light on that. BYU seems right (although I think it actually has gone up to -5.5), especially after last week against UTSA.

Ditto. YJ has mastered the formula.

It's a combination of UC's offense not progressing as they should have from last season, and Tulsa being a pretty good team. Capable of scoring points on offense, and they have a legit defensive front 7 that specializes in pressuring opposing QB's. That's how they upset UCF two weeks ago.

UC's offense is an issue. Desmond Ritter is turning the ball over at an alarming rate, and the offense in general is plagued by many of the same operational issues under Denbrock's leadership that plagued ND when he was coordinating the Irish offense. Plays taking way too long to get in, lack of creativity on early downs, lack of creativity on behind-the-chains downs, and not doing enough to set up the deep shots they take.

Lines are going to be low for UC until the offense breaks out, but they should at least continue as favorites in every game they play based on Fickell's defense.

Thanks DONTH8. I, like you, and most CFB nuts, always like looking ahead to plan Saturdays lol. I told Lion he can jump back in any time he wants :).

I think a lot of folks have a little love for Cinci, and was thankful for Lion when he always included them. Had a cousin that played FB for them. Hated them in BBall though lol. Definitely my fav non-P5 FB team. And I'd love to see a non-P5 upset the CFP applecart one day. This could be the perfect storm for that to happen if they can get their O together. Long shot I know, but I can dream.

Lion knows a lot more than I ever will about Cinci, but I'll just add that the D looks legit. BYU is really interesting this year too. They throttled Navy and beat all but one team by 30+ this year. Houston is pretty decent though, so should be a good little Friday night game. If BYU gets past Houston, very good chances they go undefeated IMO. Another potential long-shot party crasher. Always like cheering for the INDs and little guys.

I could be totally wrong but I think BYU is really good. Like 2012 ND good.

They've been playing woefully overmatched opponents, but watching them has been like watching a throwback, smashmouth team almost. Them boys like to hit. Even their skill players on offense have been delivering punishment.

Fuck BYU, though.

Houston is a good barometer. After that, I think Boise State is the only decent team standing in their way. I'd love an IND to make a case. It would likely go unheard lol, but still would add a little excitement/intrigue to the season.

BYU going undefeated as an IND and getting more shine than UCF would be LOL worthy.

I'm still a bit surprised UCF lost to Tulsa. Tulsa is a pretty good team though. Hung with OK State at OKS, and might give Cinci some trouble this week.

I was on the UCF train for a while there, and frankly happy to hop on any small school bandwagon that threatens to create CFP drama. BYU, Cinci, SMU, CCC, LRC, Houston, etc. I'll keep cheering for all of them until they lose one.

Not surprised, but Florida vs LSU is postponed due to Florida COVID outbreak.

Last week, someone, maybe Clay Travis(?) was lauding the SEC and how they were able pull this off and stay clear of COVID issues. lol

Looks like the game is still on, and Sark is filling in.

Makes for a more interesting Dawg/Tide matchup, that was already the game of the week.

With 21 football players and two assistant coaches tested positive for COVID-19 and SEC policy, their next game against Missouri could be canceled. According to SEC policy, players who test positive must isolate for at least 10 days and those who have high-risk exposure must quarantine for 14 days.

The LSU game has filled the Dec 12th slot. Should the Missouri game be canceled, it can't be made up.

3-0 Costal Carolina just beat the 3-0 #21 Ragin Cajuns on a FG with 8 secs to go. Final 30-27. Possibly 2 teams that will meet again in the conf championship.

Not bad for Wednesday night.

#17 SMU tied up in the 3rd with Tulane. 24-24.

Some good early week games this week. I was actually looking forward to the game after this (BYU), but this is pretty fun.

BYU/Houston has been great. BYU, down by 12, scores on a long drive, kicks an on-side and recovers, scores, and gets a 2pt conversion to go up 3. Still 8min to go.

For such a weird CFB season every week has been lots of fun. I mean this is a hell of a Friday slate, and we still have half a quarter (at least) left

Yea, Wednesday night's game was fun. The early game tonight was an OT game. Even last night's game which I had on in the background, was fun from what I saw.

Can't ask for a lot more all things considered. I'm still bummed the Cinci game at noon tomorrow is postponed.

Georgia Tech's WR are getting behind Clemson's DBs so far in the first half. The freshman QB just missed a give me TD with his over throw.
