It's great to hear Simon is doing well, Bilal might still be growing as a player and JOK might be turning the corner. Jack Lamb has received a lot of praise. We need everyone surging into fall then let's see who the coaches roll out.

Just watching practice video and Lawrence Keys looks different than many others. He looks shifty AF. I really hope he earns meaningful minutes this season.

Also happy to hear Bracy and Griffith look good.

Also great to hear the TEs are looking good.

Between NFL FA and the draft coming up, and all the ND spring stuff, I'M READY FOR SOME F'ING FOOTBALL DAMN IT!!!

I know it's a lot of sunshine pumping from the services during the spring, but I'm pumped.

IMO Cole Kmet is going to have a huge year. Coaches have been raving about him since he got here.

Listened to the II podcast yesterday. They were asked to pick a player who disappointed in practice, and predictably, most said it was too soon to determine such a thing. However the only player singled out as struggling by anybody was Bracy. Glad he apparently turned it around and had a good practice today.

Kelly had high praise for Ovie. They think he takes over for Julian once Julian is gone next year. Starting Drop, quite the move. With Ovie’s move to Drop we essentially added 2 Drop’s to last years class. Really bolsters that position for a long time. I also wonder if it changes the recruiting need. Probably only add a Drop in this class if they think he’s really good. Don’t need bodies

Lamb’s name is coming up a fair amount, looks like he’s healthy and fully in the mix. Some solid praise for DJ Brown at S.

Heard that as well. That is incredible news for the 2020 season. It'll be tough replacing 3 DEs but Ovie's emergence could help.

Kelly always praises players who make a position switch for the benefit of the squad.

Duffy is a really cool dude, definitely scrappy. He's apart of the STA-21 program so he'll be commissioning as an officer once he graduates. He was the only reason the Navy ROTC flag football team beat Army ROTC this year. Also he made the semifinals of Bengal Bouts this year and would have definitely won the fight to get into finals, but walk-on tryouts were the next day so I think he chose to stay rested up for that. Super pumped for him to get to be on the team though

The 1’s at LB for the last two open practices (Saturday/Tuesday) have been Bilal at Mike, Lamb at Buck, and JOK at Rover.

Now my personal opinion is some of this has to do with JOK and Lamb not getting as many reps over the last year, due to injury, so now is a good time to get them some film. However, it’s fairly unanimous these guys are playing pretty well with the reps they are getting. I also think it just further solidifies that outside of Bilal at Mike, we’re going to be playing a lot of guys at LB.

Also, Avery Davis is the starting Nickel and II said they are hearing the staff thinks he’ll win that job.

This is very interesting. Great for AD if true.

Not sure how I feel about this. I like that there's competition, but dislike that a few are killing it enough to lock things down. Hoping it's more of the competition being high, than the alternative.

Specific quote was “Davis is the guy they would like to win the job”

Hamilton might have some say come fall too.

As of today, I wouldn't look too much into this. Other than, I think it means that Lamb and JOK are showing enough that they deserve more film. But I don't think it means they've locked it down, by any means. As I mentioned, because JOK and Lamb were out last year, they have very little film even from practice squad for the staff to evaluate.

It should be noted that some of this could just be situational football as well. They were working Nickel the last two days quite a bit so maybe Lamb is at Buck and Bilal at Mike in the Nickel. While the base is a different.

Or we're really fucked when we play someone with a decent slot receiver.

it sounds like he just happens to be a body to plug in....the remarks from prister/omalley basically sounded like he wasn't very good today

I read somewhere - Pete Sampson Q&A maybe? - that he’s getting a lot of reps, just not really making a splash. I guess that’s better than not getting the reps. Either way, we seem pretty locked in at safety with Elliott and Gilman. But would be bode well for the future if he and Hamilton can emerge as solid second-stringers by fall.

Among others from that class, what’s going on with JGH?

Any word on how Nana looks?

Very curious how his career developments..."super recruit" turned "three star" tells me he might be hungry to show that he was worth the early high ranking
