Terry Joseph & Todd Lyght in to see Derek Stingley and Devin Bush. Clearly, the staff has narrowed down the defensive back recruits to the top of the top and hoping to get 1 or 2 more maximum.

ND DB OFFERS (4/5*'s)
.9872 5* Derek Stingley Top 3 (LSU, UF, Texas)
.9798 5* Chris Steele - Top 8 (UO, USC, So. Car, UM, UF, Tenn, PSU, OU)
.9787 4* Lewis Cine
.9772 4* Jeremiah Criddell - Top 5 (FSU, ND, OU, UO, UW)
.9586 4* Kaiir Elam
.9562 4* Jaylen McCullough - Top 7 (OSU, FSU, Bama, Auburn, UGA, Tenn, So. Car)
.9507 4* Max Williams
.9466 4* Nick Cross
.9372 4* Devin Bush - Top 5 (Tenn, LSU, Auburn, OU, Clemson)
.9318 4* Cam'Ron Kelly
.9252 4* Woodi Washington
.9216 4* Trent McDuffie
.9196 4* Salim Turner-Muhammad
.9101 4* Raymond Woodie III
.9098 4* Jalani Williams - Top 8 (Bama, FSU, UGA, Mizzou, ND, OSU, OU, PSU)
.9057 4* Marvin Grant
.8953 4* Wesley Walker
.8951 4* Isaiah Rutherford

Seems like a pretty good group with which ND might be able to pluck a talented piece or two. Max Williams OV'ing to ND is big because he would be an excellent addition as a Shaun Crawford-esque nickel corner. Woodi Washington is incredibly talented & loved his visit. STM is apparently all Stanford, but I don't think it's unimaginable to see a come from behind victory on that one considering a lot of people considered him all ND before the Stanford offer. Isaiah Rutherford is a 6'2'' quick athlete who wants to get to ND soon. Bottom line, a lot of good options and the staff has an opportunity to try and go after a big fish.

Which I think is the right strategy after how many we brought in last cycle. We have the luxury to get those freshman on campus this summer and fall, to see what we have there, before we need to worry about numbers.

Are the Irish circling back on one of the first '19 QB's they were in contact with? some new follows and the staff has been in his neck of the woods this week. Has a nice offer list and C-Kelly offered today.

He visited for Miami '16. Had 2200 yd - 23 TD + 800 yd rushing / 8 TD as a Jr.

Ran a 4.8/40 & an impressive 4.18/Shut at the Opening Houston for a = 96.6 Total. Maybe a back up - back up plan?

David Gbenda's teammate who got offered tonight

I hope the offer to Gbenda doesn’t have to do with Henrich or Ekwonu. Because Gbenda is really good and I think really good players should have offers. Doesn’t matter what your board looks like this early in the cycle. There could be multiple departures between now and Feb. 2019 at LBer do you might need more than 2-3 if guys don’t feel that they fit in or get passed up. That’s why I like the DL and DB board where the staff is taking a chance with almost every highly rated prospect across the country.

* .9318 4* Adisa Isaac from Brooklyn, NY. 6'5'' 215 WDE
* Best Academic Offers - Michigan, BC, UNC, Illinois, Maryland, UF, Miami
* Elko has the jump on us, Penn State has had him on campus a few times, and Michigan is lurking. This dude fits the biggest need in the class. Hope he gets offered today

Would love to know what happened with Elston's May 1st visit to Brooklyn. I ask because I recently watched a little of his Junior film and the highlights of his Opening NJ competition. I mean 6'5'' with long arms and extremely quick. I don't know breaking down film all that much, and I know the dude plays against kids that look like they are 12 years old, but this dude looks like a perfect fit for ND at WDE. Also, he got these results at the Opening NJ, idk if they are good but if someone could enlighten that would be great...

I’m sure he’s talented, but is it bad if I’ve grown skeptical about four (or five)-star defensive linemen from Brooklyn? The last couple haven’t really panned out as advertised.

Since 2010, here are the 4-5* DL from the state of NY...

2010 - Da'Quan Jones - Penn State - NFL
2010 - Dominique Easley - Florida - NFL
2011 - Ishaq Williams - Notre Dame - NFL
2013 - Ebenezer Ogundeko - Clemson - Bad egg, bad production, bad overall
2014 - Jay Hayes - Notre Dame - 39 tackles, 1 sack, solid starter for ND
2014 - Thomas Holley - Florida - multiple surgeries, took a medical
2019 - Adisa Isaac - ???

I'd say looking at that track record I would definitely take a chance on Adisa Isaac. Really only one of the players in the last 10 recruiting cycles was a bad player out of the 4-5* DLineman.

Wow, forgot about Thomas Holley. Blast from the past.

I guess it depends on what the alternative is. Hayes was fine last year, wish we had him this year. But it took three years for him to see the field consistently. Ishaq was, well, a saga who had a cup of coffee in the NFL based on raw talent alone, not his production at Notre Dame.

I realize our DCs didn’t do either guy any favors, but both seemed to struggle to learn the intricacies of the game and didn’t really produce the way their recruiting rankings might suggest. Which makes me skeptical about the coaching and competition they saw in high school in NYC as compared to, say, a comparable recruit from across the river in New Jersey Catholic school leagues, or the big programs in Ohio, where we’re also looking at four-star defensive linemen.

Per loy looks like we are trying to flip some Wiscy commits. Tippman mertz and davis. That would be huge. Wish we could also get groix from NC too since he decommitted.

Local word on Tippmann is ND's back in the hunt. I moved him back to the top of the board a few days ago.

He tore it up at the UA Camp in Chicago.

Always said he's ND's to take.

Do you think he is a tackle or gaurd?

Jacob Conover, The little machine that could from AZ, just popped for BYU. Two decent QB’s off the board for ND in Bachmeier and Conover. Mertz would make all those names disappear like a fart in the wind.

Was Conover ever even on ND’s board? Kind of hard to be off the board if you were never on.

Elston was in to see this kid and Loy put down a CB.

https://247sports.com/Player/Walker-Parks-46043254

The 6-6, 244-pounder was actually in South Bend for an unofficial visit back on March 19, but didn’t pickup an offer from the Fighting Irish at that time. That said, Notre Dame is expected to offer at some point down the road. The staff is very high on him and will eventually make that very clear with an offer. Regarding schools that have offered, Kentucky, Louisville, Cincinnati, Northwestern, Purdue and Vanderbilt have all offered.

Who wants to discuss what's going on here? Who are Loy's two? Piferi & Gabbert?

Rees recently followed some new QB's:

Brian Maurer - 3* FL
Paul Piferi - 3* CA
Brett Gabbert - 3* MO (Miami U Commit - Go Skins!)
Cale Millen - 3* WA (Oregon Commit after a Northwestern Decom)

Was hoping he'd get on Gunner Cruz or Kedon Slovis here in AZ.

Crusaderette chose Slovis' Desert Mtn HS over Jake Smith's Notre Dame Prep for academic reasons (great news for the local craft brewers) so I'll get to see more of Slovis this year as I keep the stink eye on would be suitors. Knew he was the real deal last year and SC confirmed that this week with an offer. Having Kurt Warner as your QB coach and OC has it's bennies.
