I wouldn't say it's worse than the BCS. In the BCS, ND would be left out.
The BCS was flawed enough to give way to 4, and 4 is flawed enough to give way to 8.
8 would eliminate all the arguments and bellyaching and ensure all reasonable teams with a reasonable argument, get a chance.
The system is so absurd that there are real people that think ND should be ranked 5th or lower. People don't even give a shit about losses anymore as long as you have talent.
In BCS, ND would be sitting third and it wouldn't even be a question. Somehow people thought it was smarter to give control of the process to a small group of people instead of leaving it in the hands of the polls... even then polls have been used forever to decide the national champion of college football. Realize that with the wrong group of people or the right amount of corruption it's possible that ND could get left out on Tuesday. Crazy to think about, but it's true. That would be utterly impossible in the BCS era.
I don't care that ND would've been left out at #3, they wouldn't have deserved to be in over Bama & Clemson who are both better than ND.
It's quite clear from listening to #TheNarrative all year that the process is not a good one. They need to go to 8 teams with autobids for conference champs, or they need to go back to polls to pick the top 4. This "selection show" shit is ridiculous, as is the chair, as is ESPN's influence in the "debate" about rankings. Herbstreit on national television was arguing for Georgia to move up (!!!!!) for
losing. What a time to be alive.
