Yeah the kids are going to have to get over this. Sign your papers and have your celebratory gunfire outside the school gym. It's not really fair to other coaches (and a waste of their time) if they don't know a kid is signed with another school.

some schools probably happy to have their kids wait until feb. signing day to announce (eventhough they might have already signed) so they can have a little publicity from that though. it's not all on the kids.

Only two positions that have a possibility of another take is OL & WR. I would love to see Solomon Enis get an offer as I don't know if Penn State will have enough room, and wonder if Chris Murray is waiting on admissions at Stanford because he hasn't committed anywhere yet and wonder if he would be a last minute take if he can't get thru admissions at Stanford.

This situation we're in right now is that we have up to 3 spots left and ideally those will be filled by Keys, Irvin, and NPF. Boykin and Pupu are really the only other guys on the board worth paying attention to. The difference between this class being "very good" and "great" will be how well we close on these few remaining spots.

Is it really that simple?

I know they were/are actively evaluating other O lineman. The question now is was it because they had no idea what was up with Jones, they were only back-ups for NPF... or both?

Jarrett Patterson
Sam Stovall
Ryan Winkel... all guys with contact. Patterson said in an interview that he'd most likely visit if offered.

The D line is also getting offers thrown out at DT (Ogbonnia & Ojomo) as well as looking at available DE's like Spencer Webb.

We need to be open to ND going after more than 25 as transfer/NFL/medical decisions are announced after the bowl game or this week if it's leaked certain players didn't make the trip to FL.

So I just read a copy of Mike Frank's opinion piece on the ESP class and just wanted to say...

I'm not Mike Frank.

Pretty much word for word with what I've been saying since Day 1 except he could see Wilkins being a 3 year starter at CB and I think he'll end up at WR or depth DB... but he did see him possibly on O also.

You're a specimen. I also echo what he said, although I'm not as sold on Tariq Bracy as he (and others) are. I think he's a quick little guy, but I don't think his film jumps out as a solid 4-star prospect.

Side note - The more I watch Houston Griffith, the more I see Iman Marshall.

I'm in the crowd that would put Bracy on offense. I think he could be a really good change of pace rb/slot. Not your main guy, but a compliment.

I think he'll be a good CB that is quick enough to stick with most WRs, however, he's small enough that I wouldn't want him in the game covering jump balls in the endzone.

He's also definitely got some punt/kick return potential.

So I'd push for Boykin AND Irving, and move one of Irving or Griffith to FS.

Remember when we thought he wasn't that good because he wasn't that interested in us?

Get him competing with the elites and he's the best of the best on day 1:

https://twitter.com/LukeStampini/status/947568819874213888

He also got handled at The Opening. Wouldn't trade him for either of the 2 DT's we have signed but wouldn't be upset if he were the 3rd.

Also good to keep in mind that these reporters tend to see things very differently. Read one guys article and he'll have a prospect in the top 5 performers of the day and then another reporter will have that same prospect as a disappointment of the day. They don't get much time to view a lot of high quality recruits so their sample size is limited and they end up having very different opinions.

is ND throwing all its DB eggs in the Irvin/Boykin basket or is it expected for them to expand the list over the next month?

Analysis: NFL Draft dodgers Tillery and Coney give Notre Dame defense chance to be special - NDInsider

At the end of the article, Hansen mentions (in regards to Elijah Taylor's leaving) "His impending departure leaves the Irish at 87 scholarships, two above the NCAA limit, with the desire to add three more recruits to its 22-man class before the late signing day on Feb. 7."

Then he has a pdf of the 2018 scholarship chart showing.

*** I did just notice that Stepherson is still listed and most of us would guess that he will be dismissed, so there is one more to come off, just not official.

Is Freddy Canteen a lock to come back?

Wasnt one or both of White and Adams a potential medical? That would bring the current roster to 85.

We're nowhere close to being over 85 with expected roster attrition.

So I noticed that chart doesn't have Jimmy Byrne (going to assume he wasn't invited back for a 5th year), Jonathan Bonner (just announced he was back), Daniel Cage (I think there was the longest of long shots that he could come back). Taking out Byrne and adding back Bonner should put it at 88 with Stepherson still on it.

Kind of surprised 1 or 2 more didn't leave at the break.

With the four players suspended, there is no way ND hits 85 now.

I would think Bracy has to start off at RB now. Can't think of any other backs they could and at this stage.

Wait.

Why aren't posters counting Brandon at RB? I thought basasses here said that's a done deal?
