I'm missing your point.. so teams give up first rounders for potential franchise QBs in the draft... they don't give up first rounders for so to be 34 year old solid but not great QBs. Right??

Not to twist a knife, but, at some point, drafting potential QBs is not worth getting the proven commodity. I get he is 34, but his best season with third best Passer Rating this year.

A late first rounder is nearly the same as an early second. Maybe a trade again with the Bills for one of their two firsts.

In that scenario they trade ONE draft pick?? Then maybe... there is no outlier situation where anyone trades multiple first round picks for Smith at this point. That's not an attack on Smith, he's a solid QB.

Agreed. 1 first rounder. Heck it might even be an escalating pick.

3rd rounder no matter what
Becomes a 2nd rounder with playoff appearance
Becomes 1st rounder with Super Bowl appearance
Becomes 1st and 3rd with Super Bowl win.

Now we are moving things a bit... are we talking ONE draft pick or multiple? I'm responding to the idea of 'a few first rounders'. One late first rounder wouldn't be insane given the right circumstance, Cleveland giving up either of their top four picks would be bat shit crazy, and that's without anything else included.

With all that said I'd be content with a trade of a couple mid round picks for Smith...

I think that it is crazy because Cleveland is far away from winning. If they were a QB away from being a contender, it wouldn’t be crazy.

You realize that my multiple first rounders includes one in 2019??

New offer - I'd take Browns 2(1) and a third rounder.

Any top five pick for any mid 30s QB is cray imo...

Yes

If you were KC's GM and I was Cleveland I'd call you a 'pancake eating mother fucker" right to your face for that offer...

lol

Who's their GM now? Oh yeah, Dorsey. Good trade for Smith. Not a fan of pancakes. KC BBQ mother f---er...

I'd take Smith off of KC's hands... but not for a high second rounder... just me. I'm higher on going after Cousins in FA in all honesty.

(You're still a pancake eating MOFO for that offer though)

You're a sausage/bratwurst eating dawg pound fool. Denver will sign Cousins. You have how much cap room? Use it and a second rounder for Josh Allen.

Really?

Trade a high 2nd for Smith. Trade back at #1 with Broncos or Jets. Pick up their 1st this year and next year. Then you have #4 and either#5 or 6 and 2 2nd round picks to strengthen your team to make a run at a wildcard spot. Sign a few solid free agents and boom, you are set.

Josh Allen, an even shittier version of Kizer. That is horrible, avoid Allen like the plague. QBs don’t get more accurate in the pros.

No one can trade out of 1(1). Wildcard in what year? How many times have multiple early round picks by trading out helped? Only if you sign a QB free agent, draft a CB, WR and LOT for the future. Draft Penny in the third.

Well in this scenario they are snagging Smith for a high 2nd and still have 2 High first round picks and 2 2nd round picks plus a boatload of cash to spend in free agency for targeted veterans.

Smith at QB puts them on the level of the Bengals. Intelligent drafting (I know, the Browns) and a couple of solid FA signings and they could push the Ravens. There is talent in Cleveland but they need a playmaker at WR and a solid RT and a CB. You can definitely grab the CB and RT with the early 1st round picks and then grab a LB and RB in the 2nd. Resign Josh Gordon and grab a solid free agent #3 WR (and maybe grab a WR with a 3rd pick).

Many of the weaknesses will be addressed and having Smith at QB vs Kizer is worth a few wins alone. They may not make the playoffs but they could be in the conversation for a Wild Card.

Decent breakdown for a non-Browns fan... I agree mostly but put RB as a much higher priority. Crow is so bad.

This draft is loaded with RB’s. No need to grab one early.

You have
Barkley
Love
Guice
Chubb
Michel
Jones
Johnson
Harris
Wadley

Etc.

If Goodell would do his job he'd get off of Kraft's shaft and make every team in the league give their best player to Cleveland to make up for the NFL shiting all over us for the last 30 years...

only half joking.

So apparently Cleveland won Super Bowl 54 today by getting Eliot Wolf from Green Bay... a lot of Browns fans are in all out freak out mode lol

That's a good hire. Eliot actually isn't Ron's son, but a clone. Kept in a vat of whole milk, fed cheese curds through a test tube, and taught football by Ron and the other Packer legends, Eliot was waiting for the moment to take up his "father's" old throne and GM Green Bay. Instead the Browns get him, and will be the beneficiary of his knowledge

Did I mention that Alex Smith is under contract until 2019? Buffalo and Arizona on hold. Now if Buffalo offers one of their firsts (the one they got from KC for Mahomes)....

Now it's just me, but I'd send the 33rd to KC for Smith, draft Rosen/Darnold at 1 and Barkley at four (if Indy takes him, Fitzpatrick) and a WR or CB at 35, depending on free agent signings and Indy.

You'd trade the top second rounder for Smith and STILL take a QB 1st overall???

Would you like syrup with that???

Anyway, Cleveland just gave Grigson the boot... I know that will make a lot of peps happy too...

Yes, since Cleveland has two top 2nd rounders (33, 35), since Smith has one year left on his contract to mentor, since the Browns have had such success throwing rookies into the NFL fire, and since they have plenty of cap room. CB need in this draft is mostly in the latter half of this draft with four-five possibly taken and KC would like 33 to take one. This CB class is deep. Offer 35 to the Chiefs, draft a CB at 33 after picking QB of choice and Barkley. The 49ers traded their 2nd rounder for Garoppolo whose contract is now up.

Or you could continue (dawg) pounding pierogis....

The Walter Camp mock had Cleveland taking Barkley #1 and Fitzpatrick #4. I seem to like that better than QB.

Me too... I'm hoping they take that and get Cousins or someone in FA.

The combine and such can always change that but that's whee I'm at right now.

Tossing another project QB into the fire seems like a good idea.
