I say this as a guy who's an alumni of UT, and who loved my time at UT: If you pick UT over ND right now for either football or scholastic reasons, you've been sold a load of horseshit and you bought it.

If you are talking about a 5-star recruit, that's exactly how I feel. It's like saying, "I am looking for one thing, and one thing only in a school: who gives me the best chance to win an NC ... and that is why I am choosing UCLA over Alabama."

Now if you thought you might get passed over in a loaded depth chart, or recruited over, I could see how different schools could arguably offer a better opportunity.

I can't really go into more detail than this at this point but I feel a lot better about where ND stands now with Hunter Johnson than I did last week and early this week. CB BACK TO ND

and when Wiltfong is saying he can't go into more detail...he means that Hunter's dad told him this info--he seems to be "in" w/ the family

Unacceptable. This doesn't fit the narrative of the staff getting out worked. You take this positive energy right on out of here!!!

He basically fell into our lap because we're the local team, just like Jaylon Smith did.

How's that! :)

It's almost if the caption reads, "Go to ND Hunter, there's nothing but clipboards for you in Knoxville"

Yea, BGI mentioned this morning that Johnson himself was going to be watching who Stanford moved on next. Should narrow this down to UT and ND

Why would you want to even think about going to a place where you are in the class directly following KJ Costello or for that matter Jarrett Guarantano when you can go to ND, take a redshirt (If MZ, DK, and BW are still there) and compete with Kizer &Wimbush until you beat them or they're gone. At worst, you have ND to yourself as a Junior with no wear and tear on your body. You can then pull a one and done and head to the NFL... PLUS you have ND degree in hand. You can't plan life out any better than that.

he went on record to say...depth chart DOESN'T matter to him at all and won't have any impact on his recruitment

From what BGI has reported it sounds like he has been convinced, to some degree, of two things. Though he has a great relationship with Sanford, it isn't Sanfords offense yet. Also, Sanford won't be around when he's there. A majority of the conversation revolved around that.

to piggy back this, it seemed to be implied that sanford will take the reins next year

Weird... considering the general consensus is that if things work out, he is heir apparent.

I guess Butch Jones knows more than the entire the ND Admins, the ND fanbase, Brian Kelly and Sanford himself.

idk, why else would he even be thinking about Tenn then??? they took what 3 last year plus a stud this year

Leaving NCSt out for the moment, of the 3 schools involved, ND, UT and Stanford, UT should be the school where he has the least equivalent talent to overcome. There are a lot of talented young guys maybe 4 of them if they stay in Knoxville for him to compete with but as I'm sure he feels, like most analysts do that he's a rung above them all. But he still had to at least think about it. What makes that roster appealing is Dobbs will keep those '15's on the bench and by the time HJ got to Knoxville, none of them would have any serious playing time and be entrenched at the position.

Stanford is another beast all together. They are going to have 3 big NFL guys when he gets there and will have 2 years behind Chryst and 3-4 behind KJ Costello...which is not where anyone wants to be. I'll skip the Costello worshiping right now but I wouldn't want to be Chryst or Burns when Costello walks onto campus.

ND is the place for HJ. It makes the most sense for him and it takes any unknown factors out of the equation of him getting to Sundays.

I'm not sure being stuck behind Costello or being stuck behind Wimbush are drastically different situations.
