God I hope the Jets take Josh Allen instead of Darnold and Mayfield. I want nothing to do with either of them. I don't buy the hype in Mayfield.

I’m having a hard time beleieving the Mayfield stuff... so, it’ll prob happen.

It's what you want though, right? You don't want Cleveland trading back, you want them to choose their guy and run with it.

I'll still be rooting for the Browns no matter who they pick or how they play their hand, so excited for this evening!

I like it. Mayfield is more complete as a QB than any of the other guys IMO.

Idk. They don't believe in playing defense in the Big 12. His numbers are good but he'll actually have to play against defenses in the NFL. Also, I think his character issues are legit.

eh, yes and no... I have a hard time believing that they suddenly out of the blue love Mayfield... I also never saw him as one of the top QBs but who knows...

A lot of what I have read and watched in the last week has convinced me Josh Allen is good to go Day 1. And the Jets are gonna mess this up. I just know they will.

The more I watch Baker, the less I like him. And Darnold.... we all know he sucks.

The lack of time against quality defenses is a legit concern, but I'm kind of less concerned because of the way he's shown he throws over the middle on timing routes. He knows where he needs to go with the ball, and he does it on time. That's big for his prospects in the NFL.

In terms of his character concerns, I just don't see getting worked up over a guy that got drunk and tried to run from the cops in college. And his on-field antics looked bad against Kansas, but I think that's easily reined in (and that type of competitive nature is probably needed for whoever walks into the Browns QB job).

Allen's accuracy issues and lack of success against bad college competition don't concern you?

Does the QB make the team or the team make the QB? I think the latter counts more than people are giving credit. Luck isn't making Indy a contender - they are a train wreck, and nobody in this draft is anywhere close to Andrew Luck. Just b/c Wentz worked out (so far) for Philly doesn't mean the next guy is Wentz.

It's a combo of both, but the QB makes the team more than the team makes the QB IMO. Look at the Colts last year without Luck compared to the previous years. Take a look at the year prior to Luck and his rookie season. They went from 2 wins to an 11 win season and the only real difference was Luck. Having said that, a QB can't do anything if he doesn't get some protection and help. A good QB will elevate a crappy team to average. A good QB will elevate a good team to a great team.

If Ballard can find three starters in this draft and Luck is healthy I think you'll see the Colts are on their way back to their normal 10-12 win seasons.

I like his size and arm strength for sure. A lot of people say he's better then Wentz. FWIW I don't know how to evaluate QB talent. Just what I've been reading, and I can see what they are talking about on the YouTubes. I'm worried about Baker getting banged up and hurt and hurting his development. He wont have the speed and time to make those crazy plays he did at Oklahoma.

I think there are rare exceptions and the Colts over the last 20 years is one of them. So I can see a colts fan thinking that way... but look at championship teams, very, very few had weak defenses and great QBs... or some scrub o line but a HoFer behind center that just carried them... it has happened... but it's very, very rare.

Cleveland has two of the first four picks. They could have Chubb, Nelson, Barkley or James.

They're going to go with a QB first overall because he's feisty?

You can't help people that don't want to be helped I guess.

I wouldn't take any of these guys #1 overall if I were a GM. I'd trade back and grab the best OL or DL available, or potentially the best DB if Chubb and Nelson were both gone.

BUT, if I were ranking the QB's, I'd take Mayfield because he's got the best combination of arm talent, mobility, and experience making throws that he needs to make the in the NFL.

The feistiness is a potential bonus depending on where he ends up, and as long as it's handled appropriately.

It got this worse because of the ‘get the guy later’ thinking like your first paragraph. Get the guy and be done already... they can then get the ‘best available ’ with four...I love this, all the Browns can’t develop peps now wanting us to continue reaching on leftovers...

I don't know that I recall making the argument they can't develop players. They have a carousel of starting QBs that would make the Chicago Bears blush. They crashed out on Brady Quinn, Brandon Weeden and Johnny Manziel in epic fashion. They gave up their first round pick in the following draft to get Quinn.

If Chubb and Nelson are leftovers, I'm fine with reheating that for lunch the next day.

I don't even know if I was responding to you directly, don't think I was,... either way don't mind me I'm just sick of certain conflicting perspectives on this (not just here)... and the 'leftovers' comment was regarding drafting a QB later in the draft as they have ALWAYS done since Couch... not towards Chubb and Nelson... really wish we would have got Nate Solder and passed on one of the two guards last year now... but reality is the Browns do not need Nelson.

Mayfield deserves to go number 1 overall.

Freakin guy WALKS ON at TCU and STARTS as a true freshman

Leaves and walks on at OU, where 3 years later he wins the Heisman and takes OU to the Playoffs where he hangs 45 points on the Georgia D .

That shit is legendary.

The Bears have traded up the last two years to get "their guy." Their GM's "guy" this year is Chubb. There is a potential suitor.

BUT, if I were ranking the QB's, I'd take Mayfield because he's got the best combination of arm talent, mobility, and experience making throws that he needs to make the in the NFL.

If he were two inches taller, I don't think there is a question. Building an offense around a six foot QB is a huge risk for anyone. Drew Brees is the exception, and he was a second round pick. Russell Wilson went into a franchise that runs the ball and built a defense to carry them. He was also a third round pick.

The feistiness is a potential bonus depending on where he ends up, and as long as it's handled appropriately.

The NFL is in walking on eggshell PR mode right now. Mayfield's antics and Rosen's ability to formulate an opinion in complete sentences scare people. I'd look at the football stuff first..

SIAP, but Kiper now has McGlinchey up to #10. Two offensive linemen from one school going top ten in the same draft is insane.

I can't believe we are just hours away from the draft and no one knows wtf the Browns are going to do. It's almost surreal how well they kept it under wraps. When was the last time the 1st overall was a mystery right up until the pick?? I honestly can't recall it happening....

Bad luck plays a part in this as much as ineptitude. They snagged Joe Thomas, after all, and didn't have the Jamarcus Russell egg on their face.

I think it's a great opportunity to go high reward, low risk with these two picks. There is more risk with every single one of these QBs. I know they need one, but they're whiffed three times in the last decade on a guy and gave up a first round pick to get Brady Quinn.

Maybe this regime can build the castle first, then find the princess.

It's probably more the result of there not being a clear #1 player, which really isn't the best situation for the Browns. It's a shame they don't have a Luck or Newton to draft. I think that's why it's still unknown because of course they aren't going to leak anything, they want all the teams to be strung out and planning contingencies no matter which way they go.

This is my thought given what they have in this draft but I understand the alternative position. If I'm GM, I'm looking for the best trade deal and continuing to stockpile.

Maybe no one is offering enough to make that deal. If not, I'd probably grab Rosen and Chubb/top DB - if they take a true corner, they probably reach too far. If they are willing to take a top safety Minkah or Derwin James.

Still think the best possible thing would be for them to get a trade for that #4 and move back into the teens. Can grab a CB or OT and use the additional draft capital to snag their RB in the 2nd round.
