I'd guess many people don't watch much of these kids high school tapes, I know I don't. Honestly, that was the first time I've watched the kid throw.

For those that are scared of 5*Phil's "Turn 2" motion, watch this and understand that the ball coming out @ 10 o'clock is not a death sentence. Being a 6-5 / 215+ athlete lets you perform with non-textbook mechanics that a 6' QB can't.

For the one P. rivers there's probably a 1000+ that never made it. I hope Phil defies the odds tho!

Just saying that mechanics aren't a death sentence when you have the physical skillset to compensate for it. Even though the ball is coming out at 10, Phil's shoulder is 5" higher than a 6' QB and his longer arm length also raises his release point.

My baseball coach had a saying about mechanics and pitching style. "Not one guy who's won the Cy Young pitched like Cy Young."

Find your arm angle and be consistent. The real key is being correct / consistent in your footwork and core strength/flexion. Like in golf, power comes from the hips/torso.

If you are fortunate enough to have those three abilities, then it's repetition to be able to fire off feet-hips-torso-arm sequentially in a consistent manner.

I think I forgot a couple 0's in my original statement.

We can act like throwing motion doesn't matter but, we'd just be kidding ourselves. These qb's get absolutely picked apart come draft analysis time. And throwing motion is one of the most dissected parts of a QB during this evaluation.

This shouldn't be taken as hating on Phil. It's not like I said his motion is "fuuuuucked".

To Crus's point it's about being able to replicate it. But the more abnormal it is the harder that becomes.

I'm rooting like hell that Phil's the guy to take ND to the promise Land.

I really don’t believe the PJ you see on his first day of his collegiate football will be the PJ you see on his last day of collegiate football.

From all reports I have read, PJ in immensely coachable and an insanely hard worker. I don’t think this Is even a thing.

Who has questioned if the kids coachable?

I certainly don't want BK, BR or some guru trying to completely alter his motion either. As was mentioned it's got him this far. But that doesn't make it a concern

Also, if he's the same player four years from now as he is today, there needs to be some serious coaching changes. I don't think this was discussed as a possibility tho.

And Drue Tranquil is becoming who I thought Carlo Calabrese was going to be. And Te'von has become something much more than I ever thought he'd be.

Now hopefully BW can become what we all thought he could be prior to last season.

They did. They practice every day from now until game day except for August 12, 18, 21, and 26.
