I'm sure it's in this thread somewhere, but any insight as to how many signees ND can realistically take for class '17? Obviously, 5th year players will have an impact on the number, but currently sitting at 16 commits and IF we land Echols, Black, OSB, Young and either Willis or Sarrel ... that appears to be fairly full class.

24-26 looks to be the range right now.

Correct me as I am probably wrong but isnt the Echols recruitment kind of linked with WR that Young committing means him (the WR of mention) losing his spot?

Willis is Bamas to lose. Dont see that happening. Isnt Sarrel CBed to Stanford?

Not sure what your first paragraph is getting at. Echols is a DE and not linked to Young or any other WR. His teamate Calvin and Echols have been linked at times but I wasn't under the impression they were set on playing together.

Ideal finish for me:

Sarell
OSB
Young
Holloman
Echols
Paschal
Graham
Ahmed
Wade

Holloman's still a thing? I don't see it. May as well put DPJ or Joseph Lewis there.

If there were no packages on the table your list would be better than the Christmas of '75 when I got 6 GI Joe's.

But... there are packages. Black's coming as long as Holmes doesn't decommit.

Getting Echols might require giving Calvin the spot, regardless or Young's decision and/or giving his QB the PWO that I'm pretty sure is in the works.

I'm not giving up on Wills, still think he's ND's best shot among the 3 heavies still on the board.

I'm going to take a safety if one of Bolden, Hunter or JKP wants in.

Lastly I stay on Kaindoh as long as he's answering the phone.

Maybe one of the most positive takeaways from the Opening is how much of a shot we have here. Also, how darn good this kid is. I'd love to have him. He even looks like Javon McKinley, you should be all in, lol.

Holloman is very much a thing and the staff prefers him to Tarik Black.

What did we learn about Holloman at the Opening?

That he has genuine interest in ND. Everyone that talked to him, that I've read at least, has come away believing that he has legit interest in ND.

From what I understand, Black and Holmes aren't a package deal at all. Black at ND depends on how bad he wants the spot and I dont think it's too bad right now.

Bolden still needs an offer, Hunter still needs to visit and JKP is anyone's guess, but all three are definitely solid prospects. You wouldn't take Amari Carter?

I'm gonna retract the term packages and use relationships instead. When dealing with Tarik or CJH alone, it can have an impact on the other. How you deal with Calvin can have an impact on your relationship with Echols. I will agree that Black could certainly go somewhere else. I don't think Bama or Michigan are fits, Stanford if he can get in, yes. UCLA makes the most sense if his family doesn't mind traveling cross continent or catching their games at 11pm EST... when they're on.

My lack of excitement regarding Carter is more like I'm excited about who else is available. Would I take Carter, absolutely but I hope it's at the end when the other guys have gone through the process. But to be clear, if he committed tomorrow, I'd take it. I like the stability that havng multiple guys from a program or area brings to the college level.

...and Bolden needed an offer a year ago. Staff dropped the ball but it isn't too late. He's got some big offers in the past few days.

Oliver Martin (WR) from Iowa City, is looking to visit ND on Aug. 2; but it isn't locked in. He is also planning on hitting the Michigan schools. - per Wiltfong

Since it seems ND is expanding it's OL search, has anyone heard any connection to Thayer Munford? Won't be getting an OSU offer. Has a good offer list including Bama & Tenn. 247 says he's a Pitt lean. Was at LaSalle Catholic in Cincy, going to Massillon Washington next year. I haven't followed him. Maybe some of our Skyline Chili boys know something?

While I'm at it...

Anything new with Russ Yeast? Did you ever think there'd be a 4.4 kid in Indy who had Bama, Auburn, Ole Miss and Northwestern offers without ND being on them? Kinda surreal.

Yeast only recently moved to Indy of that means anything. Spent last season in northwest Ohio playing for his dad and I believe he got a job in Indy.

Came to Irish invasion last summer and performed well

Was a one time Kentucky commit I believe and seems like he's feeling the sec along with Louisville which he recently visited for a camp iirc

Just watched that tape, had no idea who he was. Very interesting to say the least. A Jalen Elliot comparison of being HS QB, that's maybe best suited for S.

Germane Crowell, athlete from North Carolina, was offered today.

Germane Crowell, Carver, Athlete

I've seen this kid live. Good athlete - great bloodlines. Father is Germane Crowell Sr, who played WR in NFL with the Lions. Uncle is Angelo Crowell the LB with the Bills a few years ago. Another uncle certainly played D1 football at ECU. Maybe another family member who played football as well, not sure. Great athlete, plays QB and Safety for his team.

With that said, heavy University of Virginia Legacy, where his dad played and was Top 5 all time in catches or receiving yards (both, maybe?).

However, ND's message of 4 for 40 may resonate with the family.

Todd Harris, Plaquemine, Safety said he was gonna choose between Bama, LSU, and Ole Miss today. Had all three hats on the table. Instead pulls out his HS jersey and says he's committed to his HS.

Great joke on media if the coaches knew/didn't expect a commitment. If they did expect a impending commitment to be genuine.....then we get to not be funny and disrespectful instead.

I put this in the General Team Info thread, but probably fits here better:

Anyone follow Notre Dame Football on twitter? Per the new rules about twitter from the NCAA that just kicked in:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">That feeling when all of us Coaches discovered the RT function: <a href="https://t.co/vmowHtAFVd">pic.twitter.com/vmowHtAFVd</a></p>— Coach Mike Sanford (@CoachSanfordND) <a href="https://twitter.com/CoachSanfordND/status/760095735455084544">August 1, 2016</a></blockquote>
<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Coach Sanford sent this after they just retweeted each of the current 2017 commits from when they originally tweeted their commitment
