Brian Kelly will hold his pre-fall camp conference on Thursday, Aug. 6, and then the team will head to Culver (like last year) for about five days, with the first day of practice on Friday, Aug. 7. That one will be open to the media, like it was last year, and a select group of players also will be available on the 6th.

Aug. 8-11 at Culver will be closed, and the first day in pads, Aug. 12, might be open to the media back here on the Notre Dame campus.

I know camp begins next week, and 30-second practice videos will be like an oasis in the desert... but this is the point in the offseason where time begins to crawl for me. All day every day I'm just thinking about how close and yet how far the season is. I'll run out of game replays to watch on YouTube next week, and then I'll really be struggling.

Hopefully we get lots of video from summer practices lol.

Anybody have any knowledge on this? It seems to be different every year regarding how much coverage we get. We have so many changes this year that it would be most excellent to see tons of coverage, but I could see that being the exact reason we don't.

But hell... I would get a boner off simply seeing the squad in uniform at this point. It's been a long and dreary offseason. lol

If I can just see like one or two clips of Malik executing the read-option perfectly, I can survive on that for a while. Maybe until the third week of August.

But if I see a clip of a TRIPLE option out of a two-back set, or with a man motioning through the backfield? OH BOY. I might not make it to the season. The anticipation of waiting to see such things in a game setting might kill me.

What if that trip option involves motioning a WR on a jet sweep read???? ;)

Steve got some updates from the Gug the other day. A lot of it is coach speak but it will certainly get you excited.

Malik Zaire has lived inside The Gug. Watching a ton of film. As I’ve said in the past, he’s been referred to as a “field general” by folks inside The Gug, and he continues to live up to that as a leader. Zaire is fun to be around, he’s a big-time competitor, and he’s ready to lead ND.

I think Zaire is ND’s best running back. He’s obviously very exciting with the ball in his hands. We saw flashes of it last season and certainly in the spring game. He can be a game-changer carrying the football and he has the muscle packed on his frame to take the pounding for a season.

CJ Prosise is a game-changer on offense. I’m told not many folks in the country have his breakaway ability. The think with Prosise as he moves to RB, he’s never really taken the pounding at the RB position, getting hit from all different directions consistently. Hopefully he can hang onto the football. If he holds on to the football, I peg him as thee breakout player on offense after of course Zaire. Game-changing speed out of the backfield.

’m going to list the pros on the offensive line. Ronnie Stanley first rounder. Quenton Nelson is a pro. Nick Martin is a pro. With the amount of experience Steve Elmer has and with his length, he’ll get a shot to be a pro. Mick McGlinchey is a pro. Heard he’s doing very well. Alex Bars has the length, size, athleticism and intellect to be a potential first round tackle like Stanley.

Alize’Jones and Durham Smythe, be pumped about that duo at TE. Jones already looks like he’s an NFL player and he’s yet to take a snap at ND.

Defense, every time I ask about Tillery, I get more excited. He’s a flat stud. I truly believe he, a true freshman, changes the dynamic of Notre Dame’s defense by providing an inside pass rush that ND lacked. Then you have Jarron Jones, Romeo Okwara, Sheldon Day, Jonathon Bonner, Isaac Rochell, Andrew Trumbetti and Grant Blankenship as guys that will be productive within the rotation. A legit rotation! A rotation where most of the guys are seasoned and continue to improve.

I'm just jacked up that we have SIX WHOLE DAYS to analyze the first ~0:30 of practice footage that we'll get.

There will be a two or three minute video.

0:00-0:45 - Jack Nolan and his hoodie/windbreaker/jacket.

0:46-1:20 - Potentially a coach interview with BK, potentially a shot of players stretching/warming up. Also will include first returns on just how much more imposing certain players look compared to last year.

1:21-2:00 - Explanation of camp once again being held at Culver. Probably a voice-over with more clips of warm ups, maybe light individual drills. Someone unexpected will be proclaimed a future All American based on this short filler clip.

2:01-2:30/3:00 - Depending on how generous BK and the media guys are feeling, we could see thirty seconds to a minute of actual practice stuff. The koolaid will flow and players besides Malik, Ronnie, Jaylon, and Fuller will be mentioned as stars in the making. Also, someone will be mentioned as being "not only a great player, but simply an outstanding young man!" because of his posture and intensity during the clips.

Post Video Day One - we all salivate at the potential for this team, and talk about how well Malik is running the option, even though any looks at the option will likely be in their hurry-up drill against air.

Post Video Days Two and Three - We will talk about Alize Jones being a first round pick without question, but there will be the "hold your horses" crowd to keep debate alive for an extra day.

Post Video Days Four, Five and Six - Late-arrivals stopping in to make comments about the videos and how good [insert player] looks even though it's already been mentioned; comments about Koon's Bod Squad; Debate about Koon's return; Rehashing the video and rethinking some of the Koolaid-fueled comments; Bogs will mention how he met one of the young men and/or their family at a game or on campus and talk about how they are a natural-born leader; Anticipation for the process to start again with fresh practice clips.

the best videos are the ones that are 7 days into camp and they decide to reuse footage from day 2 in the hope nobody will notice.

Thanks for posting!

Just my impression of the gestalt of the poll :

  1. Boy has the BIG0T conference risen quickly from a laughingstock to the power of CFB!
  2. They have done it with relatively few coaching changes, while adding schools to the bottom of their conference. (As opposed to bringing in marquee schools that add to the prestige right off the bat.)
  3. It sure seems that there is going to be a lot more balance in CFB for the foreseeable future, that there was say, in the entire BCS era!
  4. What's going on with the Big12 (traditional powers fail)?
  5. Interesting the cluster right at the end of the Top 10; could be really good or really bad for the Irish!
  6. If these are the coaches voting, there seems to be a lot less prejudice, and politics than their used to be; I wonder if this has to do with the poll's diminishing significance?
  7. Woe be the state of Mississippi; I guess crime really doesn't pay (for long)!
  8. Fuck Michigan, and Fuck the SEC! That is all!

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

It is almost August, the team is really put together this year. After reading that article I am expecting a National Championship. That is all.
