When I saw the roster that line of Kes, Kane and brown struck me as the best... just me.

I think, once you are in the knockouts, a number of teams could win gold... US included... we will just have to wait and see.

Bolland got the job done in the playoffs, though.

Kane is a tad bit underrated as a defender. He's not going to win a Selke, but he's definitely improved his back checking and overall defense. Quenneville does a good job mixing up the lines to make something happen. He did last year when he put Kane with Bickell and Toews. It gave them a spark and made bickell millions.

Totally agree with both bolds, especially the first. I couldn't believe they got rid of Bolland and Frolik, after the way those guys played in the playoffs. But I'm getting off-topic.

It struck me as a weird line at first ... Kesler and Brown are obvious third-line type players, but Kane is a finesse player with skill off the charts who you'd normally think should be a first or second line guy. The thing is, he always seems to play great with big tough forwards who can play physical. Irish19 brought up Kane playing with Bryan Bickell and Toews and how effective they were last spring ... great example of why this line makes sense.

I know that 72 team became the face of the 'spoiled brat American' for not taking the silver medals... But that team won twice, had the guy step over the line on the third in-bonds pass... And still weren't allowed their win... I would hold onto that for a while too... I honestly can't think of any other team that had it taken from them so blatantly more than that one... In any sport, ever.

I think one of the players even has it in his will that no one from his estate is allowed to accept the silver on his behalf even after he passes. I'm not sure how I would react to an injustice like that, but probably similar. It was the biggest screw job in sports history and that's really saying something.

I thought it was a great mix...

Really strong showing by the US. This team has a lot of guys that have played hockey together. That's a really good thing at this point. I actually placed a bet last week that they would be winning it all. Haha, don't say it too loud.

Canada really struggled with timing and positioning. Good news is it can only get better. I just don't understand how a guy like Jeff Carter(soft) can crack the line up when you have Matt Duschene(one of the fastest player in the world) in the stands.

2 goals from that line, Brown and Kesler. Kane assisted on both. True, everybody was getting into the scoring today, but still, I like that start.

Kesler is a player you hate when he plays for the other team but love when he plays for your team. Great two-way player and agitator. I always liked putting Kane with a center like that since Kane is not such a great two-way player. (The Blackhawks need to find a center like him, if they insist on playing Toews and Kane on different lines. I thought Dave Bolland was the answer at one point, but he never settled in as second line center.)

Totally agree. I hate him with the Ca'sucks, but I would love him in black and silver!

That line looked great. Quick looked sharp as usual. Not too much action but solid when he was called upon.

Seriously, how Carter makes the team over Giroux and St Louis initially is mind blowing and plays over those 2 is mind blowing. Was he playing on Crosby's wing?

Yea, I still can't believe they didn't take Giroux.

Anyone else notice the communist state-controlled Gatorade that everyone's drinking, "Isotonic Drink"?

Yeah!

I don't even like hockey, but I love to beat Russia! I think any kid that grew up in my era and hid under their desks during nuclear drills can relate.

USA USA!

Great game with 2 great teams. I was getting a little tired of seeing the damn trap by lower talent teams against the super talented ones.

Oshie with absolute nerves of steel. I can't imagine being under that pressure, not to mention doing it 4 times in a row.
