Barton Simmons on a future pain in our ass:
Christian McCaffrey may have been my favorite overall performer. Very natural athlete. Very fluid. catches the ball extremely well, cuts with suddennes. Just looks like a great all around player.

Always thought he was a total boss. Absolutely dominated Michiah Quick 1v1 in a game earlier this year. Kid can flat out play.

It's always funny to see the recruitniks comment to reflect their employers rankings. 247, who has Elam rated much higher, has been raving about him.

Wiltfong:
Notre Dame OT commit Quenton Nelson running first team left tackle for the East. Has really good feet. Athletic lineman and a violent personality when the ball is snapped.

Pretty awesome that our OL commits are the Left Tackles on both games.

Nice recovery by bars.

These one on one drills give offensive linemen nightmares.

Army Bowl: Best by position West morning session
My top player at each position from the West squad morning practice session:

QB Jerrod Heard
- Crazy good on the zone read and had some nice throws in one-on-ones.

RB Christian McCaffrey
- Best receiver of the running back group by far. Can break down any linebacker during a route.

WR KD Cannon
- Elite burst, hands and terrific moves in space. Everyone else is fighting for second.

OL Brian Wallace
- He is ideal for a tackle. Long arms, quick feet and surprising strength.

DL Josh Frazier
- Good quickness. Excellent size and good stamina for a defensive tackle.

LB Nyles Morgan
- Best linebacker in coverage by far.

DB C.J. Hampton
– Big-time size and has excellent closing skills. Could even play corner.

Thank God. If I see someone like Calabrese back in coverage one more time I may have a aneurism.

Bars seems to play on his heels a little in that clip.

It's from that initial contact. He adjusts after that. Harry will teach him how to maintain his balance on the initial hit.

No, they look huge though. And they're right, he's not carrying 'bad weight' at all. Very fit for an OL.

Insert kuehnja/picture joke here ______.

Those helmets are pretty cool looking. I wouldn't want them for a year, but for a weekend? Heck yes.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think anyone said he has short arms. I thought I read the exact opposite today

Mike Farrell - Braden Smith has arrived and there is not a better looking prospect here, holy cow. Legs might be a bit short but has long arms and is a freaking monster. Notre Dame, Auburn, TCU and Texas A&M are his final four and he has set visits to all but Auburn. Sister at TCU I think will be a factor.

Under Armour All-America Combine Report

The offensive line prospect everyone in attendance was waiting to see was Braden Smith (Olathe, Kan./South). Well Smith checked just as expected at 6-foot-6 ¼ and 285-pounds. The uber-flexible Smith tested pretty well too clocking a 5.12 40, 4.65 pro-agility shuttle and 35 1/2 –inch vertical. Smith, who has shorter arms than ideally are desired at tackle, threw up a combine best 39 reps of 185-pounds on the bench press. In one-on-one’s, Smith struggled a bit in space on the edge. Whether he plays guard, which is where we project him, or tackle, he will be flat back road-grater in the run game with the ability to pull. Smith has verbal offers from nearly every top program in the country.

The short arms thing about Braden Smith seems to be completely bogus based on what I'm seeing. Where did that originate? I took that as gospel.

This ESPN coverage is great. Trumbetti looks fast.

God Chad Thomas is a good looking prospect. I am watching ESPNU now and McKenzie has some burst. I am so jealous of Jabrill Peppers

Jabrill looks so fluid its crazy. Scary good potential. I hope someone gets in his ear and pulls him somewhere besides Ann Arbor or Tuscaloosa.

Great reviews so far on Nelson, Morgan, Weishar, and Trumbetti. Always nice to read that.

Hooefully Bars can relax and come around as the week goes on.

Who cares about Peppers. We won't be playing him in year 2 or 3.

I do. He's a great athlete. I don't want him in Ann Arbor regardless of ND playing against him.

Special talent that needs a better coach then Hoke to showcase his talents.

Smith has short arms. Now Bars is a serious project.

Both will be heard for a long time.

Remember when Elmer was seriously over-rated during the period when he was not attending camps?

Cornerbacks Tony Brown (Beaumont, Texas/Ozen), Kalvaraz Bessent (Kingsland, Ga./Camden County), Nick Watkins (Dallas/Bishop Dunne) and Peppers can lock up and keep pace with every receiver on the roster, which has created terrific one-on-one battles.
