Can't disagree with the first sentence. As for the bolded, Robert Kraft and other Patriots leadership have made it very clear they will always look at the long-term health of the roster and will not "load up" for a final 3-4 year run out of Brady. So, understanding that and not what you or I or the majority of other people would do, it's still been a really disappointing draft. Forget the 1st two rounds, today they've selected three OL (one might make the roster) and a RB they probably could have gotten in round 6. It's just been a really disappointing three days as a Pats fan. We'll still win the AFC East and probably the Super Bowl, but I want to be excited for three days in the Spring and Bill is depriving me of that!

I don't disagree that they win their division as you would have to be incompetent NOT to win that division with the "competition" they have, but I don't see them beating any NFC team in the Super Bowl, if they get there.

Kelly gets lots of credit on this draft, 8 guys is great player development. Jackson & Niklas would not have made it where they are if not for Kelly's position switch. Bennett would not have been much as a WR and Troy would never have been a second rounder on the defensive line. Martin got a clear benefit from the hire of Coach Harry, another great Kelly move, TJ matured into a top receiver in his final season under Kelly.

Just plenty to be proud of for Kelly and his staff.

This goes without saying but I'll say it, this draft is big for the program. 8 picks in 6 rounds, the most players drafted in one draft in 20 years. Big time.

On the other hand, I guess you could say the Bengals may be using the the McCarron pick to motivate Dalton.

Either way, I still think it is pretty comical.

2014 NFL Draft

I know they did not.

That is the point, that they did not draft him; but they decided to draft one, just not him.

Gotcha. It was ambiguous and I know others were still confused on that on Twitter and elsewhere.

Thanks for the perfectly grammatical deconstruction of the joke. Slower folks like me need that.

And with that in mind I have no idea why you said it. Bizarre thought

Agree. This tells me ND is really "back". Just a great job by all in the program. I'm sure BK is smart enough to take advantage of this draft on the trail.

Depends on what they do in the NFL.

1994 ND draft class was stacked with a LOT more talent and it showed from day one. I will be happy if they all make contributions in the NFL though, wherever it may be.

ND is back when they win it all, delusional as that may sound; but if this is any indication, the excuse that ND does not NFL talent anymore is now officially toast.

Not true. That's something you can't take away from ND. Notre Dame put them in postition to get drafted, their talents got them drafted, t's up to them to produce.

Actually that is exactly how it works.

If Bryant Young did not win go to 4 Pro Bowls, as well as Super Bowl and retired as one of the Niners all time sacks leaders, then I would have a HARD time making the case that the Irish had produced elite NFL talent that year.

That is WHY you wait a couple years to see how your draft class really stacks up.

It is a good sign for the Irish to have that many draftees but there is no way you can state with a straight face that ND's "back" when most of those picks were Day 3 picks. When we have multiple first day picks then you can start saying that.

When you look at the list of ND draftees in recent years, most of them have been busts, so yeah, you can say that ND put them into position to get drafted, but even the other day I was hearing that Zack would be ANOTHER ND NFL BUST simply because he played at ND, just minutes after he was drafted, BECAUSE of how terrible ND players have been in the NFL.

Absolutely, it is up to them to produce but saying that this draft class constitutes ND being "back" is not remotely true. Just means that they are on the right track, but the track record of the Irish players in the NFL needs to change for the better before people will actually believe in the Irish as being able to produce great NFL talent.

Is the draft over? I'm out of the house.

Very happy to see ND tied for most picks if it's final. Very impressive and a good thing to have in your back pocket when it comes to recruiting.

Hell, I even tip my cap to Longo.

1. I never said they were back. I said this is Big for the program.
2. When a school talks about job placement they are talking about if the person gets a job when they graduate. They don't talk about where they end up, all of the kids are not CEO's..... When a college football program is selling to a kid, if they are talking about players being drafted into the NFL this is exactly what are talking about. No matter what happens they have 8 players drafted in 2014.
3. I'm done arguing with another ND fan on a ND message board. It's idiotic.
