Interesting take about Nix and Tuitt being the "better" options. Everything else I've read says that Easley has higher upside (i.e. "better," more talent), but is simply a riskier pick due to his injury history. I have to trust that if they made the pick, they had the full green light from team doctors.

I think it's also fair to point out that both Nix and Tuitt also have injury histories so it's not like they'd get a clean player either way. For selfish reasons I would have rather seen them take an ND guy.

Agreed. The more I read about Easley, the more I like the pick if he can stay healthy. I read one article that said he had the 2nd most upside of any defensive player in the draft save Clowney. If he can stay on the field, this could be a home run for the Pats.

Tuitt's injury history doesn't worry me as much as Nix and I didn't expect them to take big Lou. Tuitt was the most mocked player to the Pats leading up to the draft, which I know means squat, but it gave me hope.

If you listened to WEEI at all leading up to the draft, they were actually using that as evidence against the Patriots taking him. "If that's the conventional wisdom, there's no way they'd do it."

That's a great article. I liked this:

He’s like Evil Tebow, which it turns out is actually pretty excellent. Everything he does on and off the field either makes you love him or makes him an amazing villain. Or eventually you come to love him for being such an amazing villain. I’m somewhere between the first and third option, I think. Manziel’s gotten more likable over the past year, so it’s probably closer to the first category.

I don't listen to WEEI. I'm a 98.5 Sports Hub guy. I considered that as well though. While my hopes were up, I was ready for the Pats to do something unexpected. I learned my lesson with Logan Mankins.

I have no problem going CB given that the Bears' youngest starter there is 30. Obviously thry have multiple needs and I agree they should have gone after a safety if Pryor or Clinton-Dix are better players. Basically, I'm neither excited nor mad about the pick. Trading down would have been a good option but I can't say if they were getting worthwhile offers to do so.

I kicked my ottoman when Donald went off the board.

I yelled a few choice 4-letter words myself.

Probably can't draft him, but maybe we should throw a scholarship his way. Talk about bloodlines...

I like Easley a lot, but Tuitt imo is a better player. I think Tuitt has more upside also. Easley could have a very good nfl career, Tuitt could have a 7 pro bowl type career. Just my opinion though.

I'm sorry if you don't like it, but the world needs ditch diggers, too. At what point do you cut the kid loose? He's 20-some years old, and he still doesn't appear to have a clue what being a good, productive citizen is all about. I get that he had a privileged upbringing, but at some point you have to look at the world around you, and decide for yourself what is right and what is wrong. If hoping that selfish, arrogant, immature people fail, so that others may learn to be more humble, giving, and mature isn't cool; then I'm not cool, and I'm ok with that.

What specifically has he done to piss you off?

Wow. Drink Haterade much?

To each his own but to openly root for someone to fail isn't cool. You may not like a dude for his arrogance but instead of hate why not pray or hope that he finds his way and becomes a better man?

Right, like Ben Roethlisberger, if you believe in his transformation from boor to family man/mature adult, as people in Pittsburgh seem to. I'd love to see JFF turn over a new leaf.

I had to laugh at the bolded. That was probably true of me at 21 (although I was nowhere near as big an A-hole as JFF seems to be). Most college kids and recent college grads are really self-centered, in my experience. The only difference is that most of them aren't as visible as JFF. People just seem to grow up more slowly nowadays, for whatever reason or reasons, but they do still grow up.

But I guess I can't disagree with the basic sentiment. For the time being, I'll be rooting against Johnny Football. He's an A-hole.

But everybody loves a redemption story. If he becomes a model citizen (and he's young enough that I won't be surprised), I'll be delighted to turn right around and root for him.

He hasn't "pissed me off". But as long as he continues to act like an elitist, pampered, "I can do no wrong" athlete, then I will hope that he fails, to serve as a karmic warning to others.

I'm not arguing that the kid is Satan personified. I'm asserting that it is my right to hope that people that exhibit poor behaviors end up being unsuccessful, so that the next generation does not grow up associating boorish behavior with fame and success.

If it's Tuitt or Nix, I might have to soften my stance and go to a Cowboys game.

Not sure how I feel about this. I don't think it will be either. Ealy or Lawrence seem to be the names I see regarding the 2nd rd and the Cowboys. I think between Ealy, Lawrence, and Crichton one of those 3 would be available at 47 without having to trade up. Most likely Crichton but I'm ok with that depending on what they have to give up in the trade scenario.

Because they can. They're allowed to take their sweet ass time.

Browns don't look all that bad heading into next year. O-line is solid. Tate is big upgrade at RB. Gordon is the man, need a better #2 than Little. Cameron is solid at TE (does anyone else not remember him at USC at all?).

Secondary looks good with Haden, Gilbert, Whitner. Keke and Kruger on the edge.

What do you guys need going forward? #2 WR? interior OL? ILB and safety?

I've been on the JFF bandwagon since the Bama game this past year, and I really think you guys can shock some people this year. Maybe not playoffs, but 7-9 or 8-8 and a team that no one wants to play. Schedule isn't all that tough....

Hope you guys snag Lee early in 2nd round and then can go D and OL in the 3rd

Marquise Lee is the pick if I'm Cleveland.

Stevie Johnson? I honestly do not see what the Niners are doing with their WR corps. As it stands, it is still Crabtree and Boldin with nobody a deep threat to open up the passing game.

Do they honestly think anyone is going to be scared of Stevie Johnson?? Last I checked, Jerry Rice he is not....who also ran a 4.6, but was a workout maniac with huge hands. Johnson is none of those things....and fragile as a China doll.

I certainly expect the FO to have a plan and a better understanding of what he can do than I do, but I still don't think it solves anything because the Niners NEED a DEEP threat, which apparently they are not even pursuing now.

I do like the fact they did not have to have to give up a player to get him but there are only so many roster spots.
