Yea, but nobody knows for sure where JFF will be drafted. There really are no signs pointing that he would go 1-3 without a trade. So, if Cleveland was smart and really wanted him, they would hype up how much they wanted Watkins, Matthews or someone else to prevent a team from jumping them. They gain nothing by showing their cards.

Oh, I gotcha. The issue with the Browns is that the presumed interest is supposedly emanating from the owner. I guess there are two ways to go with this: it seems less likely to be strategically ginned up but, OTOH, the owner's infatuation may have no weight on their actual football decisions.

EDIT: And Jay Glazer is saying the Browns won't take Manziel at #4. So take heart! Or is this double counter-smokescreen?

Glazer is about as well connected as you can possibly be. In other words, the Browns aren't drafting Manziel.

JFF could slip a bit. People link him to the Bucs but I have a hard time believing Lovie would do that with this first pick ever with them.

If he falls all the way to Dallas at #16, it's going to very interesting.

Mike and Mike this morning are discussing the possible emergence of a CLE pick 26 trade for Cousins.

I pretty much agree w/that. I hope the Raiders basically pick that way, too. I'd put Dennard and Ha Ha over Beckham and Big Zack, but they're right behind that group.

4 OTs. Crazy how coveted the offensive tackle position has become the past decade.

Wow I had no idea he was projected that highly:

FWIW, he's been climbing up all the mocks.

This is the guy I'm hoping will slip to the Bears.

Ha ha, we're of totally opposite opinions. I'm just some dude but I think his athleticism could be incredibly disruptive for an interior lineman. As the NFL skews further toward passing I think his skill set is becoming more valuable on Sundays.

Idk man. Pitt played two quality teams last year in Notre Dame and FSU. In those two games, he was decent at best IMO. With the combination of being undersized and playing a weak schedule, I don't see him as a first round type player.

This is coming from a Steelers fan though. Steelers run a 3-4 and I don't think he'd do well in the 3-4. If a 4-3 team drafts him, then maybe he could be productive in that defense. If the Steelers take him, I'm gonna puke.

The thing that I don't understand is that there are a lot of Steelers fans that want him. I think they just want him because they are Pitt Panthers homers

Not exactly a quick read, but some pretty interesting trends on the draft and the "right" way to build a team. With all the talk of people moving up into the first 5 or 10, this basically says trading down is much better long-term than trading up for "the guy".

final top 300 for mcshay

final top 300 for mcshay

9. Zack Martin, OT, Notre Dame (Grade: 93): He doesn't have ideal length for the left tackle position, which is why he's better-suited for the right side. Good lateral quickness and excellent awareness and effort.
27. Stephon Tuitt, DE, Notre Dame (Grade: 89): He's a top-15 prospect in this draft based purely on talent, as he has a unique combo of size and straight-line speed and the versatility to play different positions in multiple fronts. Needs to show much more consistent effort.
36. Louis Nix III, DT, Notre Dame (Grade: 88): A massive nose tackle prospect with very good quickness for his size and good snap anticipation. His 2013 tape didn't match what he showed during the 2012 season.
59. Troy Niklas, TE, Notre Dame (Grade: 79): He isn't a polished route runner but has above-average top-end speed for his size and is a very good blocker.
163 G Chris Watt Notre Dame 54
169 WR TJ Jones Notre Dame 53
172 OLB Prince Shembo Notre Dame 52
251 CB Bennett Jackson Notre Dame 39
277 RB George Atkinson III Notre Dame 36

Woolybug and I had a big discussion on this, and I've always tended to your line of thinking. Against the best of the best he didn't make a lot of plays and got an absurd amount of his stats against Georgia Tech.

However, after learning that Donald was actually BIGGER than his listed height/weight at Pitt and then continuing to learn more about him... with how the NFL is truly becoming more and more pass-first I could see a team that plays an aggressive 4-3 or even some sort of amoeba one-gap 3-4 really loving his game. There is no question that his quickness and pass rushing ability are special for a DT. But he's definitely not a fit at all for any sort of two-gap 3-4 scheme or even many one-gap schemes due to his stature.

I'll cry myself to sleep tomorrow if the Bears move up to take him. I'm hoping the Bears take Donald, Clinton-Dix, or Gilbert at 14 or trade down.

2 WRs in the top 5? I'm not sure how that would even happen with who is picking and the talk of needing linemen, QBs and the 4 "elites" in the draft.

What a difference 24 hours makes. Now it appears the Browns are enamored with Bridgewater and the Jags are supposedly going to take Manziel at #3.

I kind of like Evans just because he moves like a Floyd clone on the field.
