Think: why is Texas weak right now?

Because they think all they have to do is recruit Texas and they will be fine. They are missing out on some (very few) top prospects from their own state (like Andrew Luck) and pretty much every single top prospect from every other state in the country.

I did expect this backlash but oh well

Why? Mack Brown.

Then add Kevin Sumlin, Art Briles, and a couple of other coaches who have raised their program at the expense of UTX.

Brown has lost 16 games in the past 3 years while only losing 11 in his first 3 years on the job.

They missed out on Luck. Yes they did but they almost missed out on the kid from Tyler, TX who won the Heisman. Fortunately for Brown, A&M and Manziel have moved on to the SEC but they're taking the spotlights.

The Stars of Texas are shining in (and going) to College Station and other Texas and Big 12 towns. UTX has more real competition on their schedule these days than they use to.

But even when Brown had Texas fenced in he only managed one NC with al those incredible classes.

hey Mack offered him to come play DB! :)

But yeah for UT to squander all the resources they have in Texas is just a joke. It should be the easiest place to win but Mack makes a relatively simple job look like rocket science

Much like when Alabama took Saban out of the NFL, I quiver in fear at the thought of Texas or USC catching Chip Kelly if/when the NFL beats him into the ground and he wants to come back to the college game.

Just for fun GB's predictions

QB- Allen
RB- Hood, Starks- I just think we take a gamble
WR- Andrews, Brent, Holmes
TE-Weishar, Luatua
OL- Mustipher, Smith, Bryne, Nelson, Bars
DL- Trumbetti, Hayes
OLB- Williams, Yeargin
MLB- Morgan, Martini
CB- Watkins, Jackson
S- Baker

I am reaching with Baker and Jackson but there were 3 surprises last year down the stretch. Josh Malone is another name to look out for if he comes back this summer I will feel even better.

No NT?

I sincerely hope we take more than 2 ILBs this cycle (though Yeargin might end up there).

A 2nd CB would surprise me.

I want to fit a nose tackle in this class badly, but I am just not seeing a fit.

I agree that its hard to see a fit with the current NG prospects out there but IMO no matter what we'll take a NG this cycle even if its a project. I still think that if down the stretch this year we don't have a NG in the fold we'll start to see other names pop up again like Craig Evans.

I would like to see more from the front seven than just four guys total... are they even recruiting a nose tackle at this point... mostly just hybrid guys right??

We could always steal Enoch Smith (spelling?) late in the game. I don't think he was offered and his ratings aren't great, but he was MVP of that camp recently.

If we have another 10+ win season, we'll get late interest from names we don't expect right now.

We're basically going all in on Frazier and Clark right now (much like with Williams) and if it starts looking like we are out of it with those two we'll move on.

PS. Curtis is a big boy reminds of Lou in the sense that he'll need a lot of work but he could turn out to be a rock in the middle.

Clark is going to Miami or Florida
Fraizer Arky. A lot of family pressure to stay home
Curtis to UCLA is almost a given

I would love to put all of our marbles for Damian Mama and make him a NT

I would think Mama to USC is more of a lock than any of those

I would have taken Smith when we had the chance and kept the extra heat on more promising hybrids... but then I don't know what I'm talking about and am all emotional over the fact we have no NT's... sonabitch

If any of these four prospects are academically ND capable, they will come. Why? The coaching staff has established this position as a priority. Louis Nix(#9), who acquired number 1 on his back, has the attention of every potential commitment at nose tackle. A commanding, defensive line that controls the line of scrimmage drew the attention of Vanderdoes, and it will acquire the attention of Clark,Josh Fraizer, Curtis, and Mama as well.

I am wondering also if the Holley kid from NY could develop into a NT, or even his NY buddy who we already have a verbal for. However, we need another DT or SDE in this class somehow.

It is also my heresy that with Kelly shifting to two TE sets, and generally huge receivers, that if Luatua verbals, we could take only two traditional WRs.

I think both Holley and Hayes could be serviceable NTs, but not starting full time NTs

Frazier/Clark may be the only pure NTs on the board right now

Curtis?

Notre Dame just offered a 2015 NG out of NC named Shy Tuttle btw

Wish we would go after Holley. Oh well.

Notre Dame is recruiting him. IIRC he said he talks w/ ND weekly and we are still in line got a visit

EDIT: Diaco dropped in last week to remind him how important he is to our class per II

Notre Dame offered 2015 FS Kendrell McFadden and 2015 CAT Jeffery Holland, both out of Florida.

Gerry Hamilton at 247 called Jeffrey Holland one of the best pass rushing OLB's in the 2015 or 2014 classes. Sounds like he is going to be a hot commodity.
