Thanks for posting. Surprised that Heuerman is already seeing reps in practice. I was not expecting him back until a few weeks into the season. Anyone know his timeline? I wonder if there is a chance that he is game ready for Rice.

Some of those early reps could be the result of Luatua and Smythe both sitting today's practice out. BK didn't address any injury concerns in his media session today so there isn't really much out there on Heuerman's status.

McDaniel didn't return bc it was like the 3rd to last play of the practice. Looked like a collarbone, but he was checked out and looked fine,

He was CRUSHED by Utopo on that play btw.

I know you've got more than that to say about today's practice ;)

You can actually see one of the plays in the practice report, Farley just seems to give up on the play.

LB profile from yesterday. Elliott's comments are very insightful I thought about how we'll line up versus certain teams and the change in scheme

Elliott has me really looking forward to this group. Jaylon is special and not coming off the field unless he's hurt or his helmet pops off. Elliott's comments on Schmidt have me wondering how close mentally he is to Manti senior year. I'm not trying to say Schmidt = Manti, but pre-snap, how comparable are they in quarterbacking the front-seven/defense and getting everyone lined up? That's going to be huge. Onwualu, Turner and Councell provide a lot of options at SAM against different offensive looks. The young guys, Morgan and Martini clearly have the physical tools and the right mentors (Smith and Schmidt) to learn from.

I also thought Elliott's last comment was interesting:

"I told coach van Gorder one time early on in the spring that this, for him, was like having a team full of rookies in the NFL. There's no two year veterans, there's no three year veterans in this scheme to be able to digest this stuff quickly and have a little bit of experience doing it. There's none of that so we're starting from scratch. The learners, the really fast learners, are in front right now. And we've got to bring some of the other guys that are going to be good players in time along. Everyone has to come. We can't do this with two or three guys in the LB core."

HOT DAMN is that an impressive throw. Should have counted as a sack, but still.

Maybe its just me, and the kool aide, but Robinson has the best hands I've ever seen on a college receiver.

Awesome! I was really impressed with how Clarrett has rebounded. He seems like he's legitimately being a good human being and hoping to keep others from making similar mistakes. I can only root for a guy that sees the light, if only because I've lived in darkness so many times.

He's found his niche and has been really great working with MusclePharm founder Cory Gregory.
