I'm excited to name the team captains based on the first 2-minute practice video we see.

In all seriousness, looking forward to seeing QBs, WRs, LBs, and freshman DL.

No, silly, we name which 30 players that will be All Americans this year based on the first 2 minute practice video.

Is it bad that I give 0 shits about practice videos?

dude we spend like 2 years following a recruitment of a kid/learning their story, you don't get excited to finally see them in ND colours?

Yes. It's terrible.

I guess I just don't see any real value in them. I do get really pumped about any clips that show camaraderie or players getting coached up. Just not so much the clip of a QB throwing a pass or a RB making a cut. And I especially hate when people on IE make conclusions about how a player will be amazing this season because he had a great catch in practice or whatever.

Really sorry for posting here, but I know it'll be seen.

Can whiskey (or whoever else has it) PM me the ROI chart? I'm in an argument with a co-worker who says there's not a significant difference.

I always laugh at the indisputable conclusions people draw off those clips. Happens every year and it's awesome. I mean, a 2 hour practice gets condensed into about 90 seconds of clips, and yet players are either HOF'ers or Never-Gonna-See-The-Field'ers based off a play or two. So I feel you.

But unlike you, I still like the videos. It's football, finally. Notre Dame football.

And I've said it since the spring practices (coaches clinic) and BK kinda said it Friday...Chris Brown is going to show out this year. Forget the 2 minute highlights - he was a bad man those 2 practices we saw live. A different player. Can't wait to see him with a QB that can get him the ball, especially with so much attention that will have to be paid to DD across from him...

Yeah this is my attitude. I totally agree that we tend to make too big a deal out of the practice videos and they are pretty worthless for figuring out what a guy will do on the field this fall. But it is just fun to see our guys playing football, especially when they are making spectacular plays, and especially when they are young guys who haven't seen the field much. For example, Koyack made a great one-handed grab in a video a year or two ago, Corey Robinson made some great grabs in the vids last fall ... stuff like that is just fun to watch.

But again, I absolutely agree that it doesn't tell us very much about what we will see on the field in the fall.

Might just be the angle, but McGlinchey looks massive. Looked large in the Fortuna pic also.

Ahh, the calm before the storm.

I'd like to get in one more Fuck Michigan before we turn our attentions from scUM hatred to ND practice film and discussion.

Nope not the angle, he's just a massive human being. BK had good things to say about Hegarty and Hanratty on Friday but I will be surprised if McGlinchey isn't the 5th OL that starts against Rice.

Ya, I'm hoping BK goes with him as well. We need our 5 most talented out there, not our 4 most talented and the safe pick at Guard. I get visions of Mike Golic Jr whenever I hear Hegarty or Hanratty as possible starters. Safe, but not dominant.

Just got some cool footage from my high school buddy who works in the sports dept at CMA. He said Daniel Cage is an absolute beast. We had doubted that he weighed in at 325 being that he's 3 inches shorter than Mokwuah but after seeing them together in person, he said there is no doubt he is as advertised.
I'm definitely gonna sneak behind the lines next year and go watch a day with him. CMA is probably the best high school / prep school campus in the country... and with names on buildings like Steinbrenner and Penske, there is a lot of sports history there... I think (former) NFL owners Adams and Hunt were alum's too.

Great water skiing on Lake Max too if you're into that.

I thought that Hegarty played well last year. Also I think people forget how highly rated he was out of HS.

Rivals: #6 OT #70 Overall
ESPN: #5 OT #36 Overall
Scout: #11 OT #105 Overall

I agree... with a lefty QB as your next man in and your future, you want to have stability and performance from your RT as it will become your LT as soon as Zaire steps onto the field. McGlinchey is in the perfect position to be a 2/3/4 year starter at RT, depending on when his time to declare for the draft is.

You want your best player out there. Period.

I think McGlinchey is ideal. Starting experience will go a long way towards reaching his enormous potential.

Good point. His heart issue took him out of the conversation for a bit so people tend to forget this.

Who needs Steinbrenner and Penske, when the name on the front door is Culver?

#78-- All-American this year
#65-- immediate stud
#50-- future All-American
#75-- stud
#62-- future stud
#70-- future All-American

I don't have any video yet, so just basing it off the pictures. But I don't even need a video of a single rep in a pre-season practice, I can tell from the picture.

Am I doing this right?
