Some stuff per TJ regarding some of the topics that BK made public today.

Grace and Councell are working their way back from injuries and sat out spring ball and some summer work.

Deeb is making a bit of a push at Mike as I've already noted.

Randolph is learning a new LB position and functional role unlike what he did in HS or briefly at ND last year pre-surgery and shutdown. Martini is more familiar with and, to date, more comfortable at Will. That explains some of this, and it's more a positive by Martini (MF's assessment aside!) than a negative by Randolph. Will in the 4-3 Under is the most demanding, most important of the LB positions overall, quite frankly. Jaylon's abilities and capacity should allow both to groom here as necessary, good luck permitting.

Okwara needs to turn it up a notch or two, as I've alluded, even allowing for his decidedly young age as a JR. Trumbetti's move at RushDE should get that going, hopefully.

Just a few explanations for those interested and concerned. But remember, depth charts are very fluid and dynamic, especially now and early in the season. A lot of guys will play and things will evolve by merit.

Oh....and the freshman class is pretty talented and pretty darn good, potentially. Whether some believe what they've heard and read and gazed upon, or not.

I agree with him that trumbetti starting should definitely light a fire under okwara. I see okwara starting week 2.

I disagree. I think Trumbetti is just really good.

From BGI's coverage of BK's presser where he talks about Trumbetti.

“He’s really separated himself,” Kelly said. “Sometimes I don’t talk about him enough because I sometimes forget he’s a freshman. He’s almost separated himself from this freshman class.

“We think that he’s got a huge upside for us in so many areas that sometimes I don’t talk about him enough. Great motor, physical, smart, he does all the things we want him to do.”

Agree. I know everyone and their mother on this site loves Okwara, but he was a 3 star coming out of high school. Trumbetti was a high 4 star, except on rivals smh.

Thanks for the responses on Trumbetti/Okwara. Not directly related, but it really is a shame Okwara was not able to redshirt as a freshman. Could have done him a lot of good to develop for a year while preserving eligibility.

Not to koonj all over this thread, but Collinsworth looked photoshopped.

In conclusion, fire Longo!

Agreed. He was only 16 years old when he stepped on campus. He and Trumbetti are basically the same age, even though Okwara came in two years ahead of him. Huge upside, but still pretty raw. I still think he'd benefit tremendously from a RS year, but we're too thin at DE (and it's probably too late in his career) for that to happen.

Pleased to see Josh Atkinson get a shout out from CK. I don't believe that's ever happened for him.

Would really like him to see the field this year.

Good presser by Kelly with a lot of good info.

Looking at Redfield/Collingsworth-it's like looking in a mirror. A circus mirror , but still a mirror.

I'm with you, Lucci. BK seemed very matter of fact when he said Trumbetti would be the starter. I see Trumbetti holding the spot the entire season, unless he absolutely shits himself during a game.

I like the BVG defense being more risk-takers. Under Diaco, they were risk averse and it had it's bennies, obviously. The risk-taking approach has more opportunity (hopefully) for more rewards.

It's been 45 minutes since the pic was posted, and no comment from the koonja. I think we better send the medics to his house. He has clearly seen the pics and has had some type of mental or physical breakdown.

Diaco was not a very creative coach. However, he understood the basics really, really well. If you have all that beef upfront, make people run through it. His defense kept us in a lot of games. Its that Alabama model: why get creative if you have the biggest fastest guys?

However, I think he became very mediocre with less than premium talent. BVG seems much more appropriate for who we have.

In the end of the day, what people like is winning. If the offense is scoring 40 and the defense giving up 30, everyone will love BVG.

Funny how Diaco's defense was considered vanilla and boring by many fans and commentators but the players themselves actually thought it was detailed and complex!

While he may not have blitzed much, or changed coverage tendencies. His defense had a lot of "rules". If this then this, if that then that, which makes it complex for the personnel, yet vanilla to the viewer.

Half-day orgasm. It's okay, lesser men have recovered.

I believe Diaco was more creative than you,or many, give him credit for. The way many describe his defense, I could be a 3-4 DC.

To be fair, Barrett Jones didn't give him much credit either after the title game:

“They’re good because they are so simple,” Jones told ESPN’s Ivan Maisel. “But, also, they’re simple. We knew if we had certain shifts, they would get into certain formations that we felt like we would have good runs against. We were right — every play, almost."

In response to lucky. We'll see.. I respect you opinion your a solid poster. I like how just because someone doesn't see things the same way you do you don't flip out. Other posters need to take note.

More like a candlelit bubble bath.

He's drinking wine.

And having a good cry.

In 4 hours he'll need to visit the ER...

I think we've exceeded the maximum Koon man-love allotment for this page.
