awesome to hear Tyler Eiffert said on the King show yesterday when asked who is making the biggest impression as a freshman: Chris Brown!

Toma said: chris brown catches EVERYTHING
also said Neal was going to be one of the most electric fb players

PAN,
Was that recorded? Tyler Eiffert is honestly my second favorite current ND player....You guys know who is #1 or should I say #2. LOL I would love to listen to that broadcast.

“If particular guys are in there, we may need to manage the game which will create a different pattern of calls.”

This sounds like they're aware of their weaknesses and will try to disguise them. I think there is every reason to be concerned about our secondary when we face teams with quality QB's.

Let's hope a combination of evaluation of talent in the 2011/2012 recruits and development will bring us up to speed.

Was on the Bill King show. You can go to his website and listen to the old shows for free. You do have to register (which is free) to be able to listen.
Billisking.com - The VOX of College Sport

After you register just click on the link titled "Listen to Bill" and find the broadcast from August 15th which is broke down into Hour 1, 2 and 3. Eifert's interview was in HR 2.

I honestly can't wait to see Everett Golson play.. and hopefully Chris Brown sees some time.. biggest thing I took away from that video TT posted was #2 balling out of his mind.. Ishaq also looks like he put on 15 lbs of muscle

Per II if the season were to start today, the two starting corners are Bennett Jackson and Russell

Interesting. Not sure if that says a lot about Russell's abilities or if it's an indictment of Josh and Jalen's progress. Possibly both.

Hopefully Jalen and Josh are right there battling and will provide quality depth if that is that case.

imo..russell is a great athlete! not saying josh and jalen arn't...but man he would have been our homerun offensive recruit had we not have gotten Neal..there is something about this young man that can't be taught...he has a real passion...maybe im crazy but it exudes when i see him in interviews

I'd say both. By all accounts they have been blown away by Keivarae's progression and Jalen and Josh are still inconsistent.

last year the qb position held us back all year, this year I can't help but think it's going to be the cornerbacks. you can't send out two wide receivers to start at CB, one of whom just learned the position a couple months ago, and expect to compete with elite teams.

russell played safety in HS...found this write up from his recruiting...how true

Besides the value of a Notre Dame degree, Russell believes he’d have the opportunity to play early at Notre Dame.
“They’re looking for me to play early,” he said of the Irish. “I know a lot of teams tell recruits that, but I actually truly believe them. They keep telling me, ‘We could get anybody we want. We wouldn’t be coming at you this hard if we didn’t want you to play.’ They like the character I have. Let’s say somebody is better than me, I have a better character. They keep telling me to maintain that GPA and what I have. They see that I want to be more than just one thing. They know I’ll bring that onto the football field too. They said I’ll fit that program.

“A school like Notre Dame, they’re lacking running backs for some reason. They’ve been getting good quarterbacks and receivers. I know if I went to Notre Dame, I could play a little bit. I know if I went to UW, I‘d play slot for sure because they’ve got a lot backs, but they don’t have any big-play slots.”

Russell said a recent story on his recruitment mischaracterized his desire to play slot receiver.

“People misread what I said about I hate contact,” he said. “Come on now, I’m in a wing-T offense. I enjoy contact. I play safety and fullback in a wing-T. From my knowledge, those two positions have a lot of contact every game.

“I want to go in and play slot/running back until they get me bigger. When’s the last time you heard about a 6-foot, 175-pound running back? That’s not happening. Once they get me to 190-something, I think I’ll be able to get in the backfield and be an every-down back. To my knowledge, I don’t think I’d be an every-down back right away. You could get me in there for a few plays, put me back at the slot, throw me some passes. I’m going to be that kind of versatile guy.”

If Ben Counsell is the real deal, then our front seven should be devastating. Our safeties are going to be very good --- I think that Zeke is set for one of those senior bust-outs of excellence that you often see. I've begun to believe all the staff talk about Bennett. That leaves only Keivaree's Korner. A young super-athlete nested into a veteran defense ready to rock bones... somehow I think that we'll be just fine.

All of us need to remember that the best corners occasionally get beat. Let's be reasonable with both his and Bennett's play.

So, did you all read Keith Arnold's article about how we got here with db's? Remember how Kelly's staff rates players on a 3 point scale? Well there are two inexperienced db's that rate three.

Those of you who want to hurry the season up, give these youngsters the extra week. It will help.

The two in mind were in the process of eclipsing Lo, and that is nothing derogatory intended toward Lo. These two are becoming BEASTS, and cornerback may be far from our weakest position on the team.

Oh yeah, and DOG will definitely rock this year for the first time since the 3-4 was unveiled. Nothing against Flemming, but you have two and one half, bigger, stronger, faster.

And those Cats are scarry; they will do more than read your mind.

I have heard all of this from someone that should know. They don't want it to get out; but everyone will see it with Navy.

(gratuitious movie reference).

I bolded the wise words.

Curious as to what you think is the weakest position group on the team tho. And Flemming played CAT his whole time here. It was Shembo who was out of position playing at DOG last year.
