'20 NJ CB Clarence Lewis (Notre Dame Signee)

This kid looks like he is going to be a pretty good player for Notre Dame.

Think the staff found a serious gem here. He's far from flawless this year but a 3* true freshman starting on a national title contender is a pretty big accomplishment.

I had to follow the game online, so I didn’t get to see the actual plays. But a CB having a lot of tackles usually isn’t a great stat, more so that he’s being targeted a lot. By the reactions, I’m guessing that’s not the case but maybe someone will give me some comments on his actual play.

He made the tackles, which was good to see. But, it’s partially due to the fact that they were picking on him in off man coverage quite a bit.

I gotta say, going into the season I thought Bracy was gonna be our best corner by a country mile. I hope he gets his mojo back---he was pretty good in 2019, by my (non-expert) estimation at least.

The tackles is not a great stat. Made some good.plays but for every one good he had one bad. He is a freshman so I am not concerned. Bracy is the bigger issue

Lewis(I think it was Lewis, at least) made a really good play on JOK’s forced fumble. Lewis contained the ball carrier, forced him inside, and allowed JOK to lay the boom.

I think that’s the thing that made me most mad about this game… not only did they lose, but gave me flashbacks to the worst night of being an ND fan that I’ve ever experienced. 2011 @ scUM with Gary Gray starring in a horror film.

Those are strong words. I don't think I have ever seen anyone look like they completely forget how to play DB than Gray but this was damn close.

One of the ISD guys just tweeted it but Sanders who somehow pulled out one of his best performances did to the post Hamilton D what we thought Virginia w/ Armstrong would do. Played find the duck and boy was Lewis the duck. One Hamilton PBU or INT on the deeper balls to Martin could have really taken away Sanders’ confidence which is essential. They needed someone to shake him

Exactly. People were gushing over the fact that he was playing last year as a true freshman. The only reason he has played a lot up until now is because he sucks slightly less than everyone else behind him on the depth chart. The recruiting at this position for the better part of the last 4 years or so has been hot garbage.
