He's got the mentality and drive to definitely be a HoFer. Unless he gets saddled with an awful team I don't see that changing regardless of his 40 time.
I definitely think he will get drafted.

You gotta wonder if these supposed "scouts" ever scouted, ya know, his games? The 2 scouts who said Anthony Richardson must be very into drugs.

Exactly. It just seems lazy.He presents the classic conundrum for scouts of measurables versus actual production. Dude can flat out sling that thing, but....
This is such an underrated statement. I went into several games earlier in the season thinking there’s no way team X allows him to single handedly tear up their passing defense, and he just kept doing it.He was basically all anyone had to worry about in our pass game last year and still no one could stop him
AND Drew Pyne was the one getting him the ball.....He was basically all anyone had to worry about in our pass game last year and still no one could stop him
#WhoDeyTo be honest this all seems like a smokescreen by good teams at the end of the first round that need TEs and want him to drop.
Personally think Eifert had an edge there when it comes to soft hands and catch radius but I think Mayer is better in space, not to mention a better in-line blocker. Overall Mayer is the better prospect between the two IMO but that's saying something considering Eifert was a pro-bowl caliber player when healthy.IMO his downside is Brent Celek and upside is Jason Witten.
His ball skills are so damn good which I think people continuously underate. Best of any ND tight end I’ve seen. He’ll be the perfect safety blanket for a QB.
They must be thinking of Bowers. Mayer actually has highlights with him blocking. Bowers has none. That scouting report listed his blocking as his weakness, but that can be taught and coached. Reaching over a DB's back to snag a pass can't be taught.
Yeah, it’s like calling blocking Witten’s weakness. Ok, yeah, he was better at catching…but he was still a top-5ish blocking TE.They must be thinking of Bowers. Mayer actually has highlights with him blocking. Bowers has none.
Right? He didn't even play post season and Mayer still graded as #1 among all TEs this year.Yeah, it’s like calling blocking Witten’s weakness. Ok, yeah, he was better at catching…but he was still a top-5ish blocking TE.
I understand that Kelce is a great talent. But his blocking is garbage. He’ll likely be considered “greatest TE ever” when he retires, despite the fact that he sucked at half of his job. And then you have a guy like Witten who was truly great catching AND blocking. While Witten will still be a HOF, he won’t get GOAT status, though he really should.
I think Mayer could be another Witten.
Good compMayer’s game always reminded me of Jeremy Shockey for the Giants.
Shockey was a more explosive athlete. Ran like a 4.55 40. Mayer has the potential to end up being the better all around player, but he is not the athlete Shockey was.Mayer’s game always reminded me of Jeremy Shockey for the Giants.
