Mayer, Johnson and Tyree have already made my mind melt. Couple that with Brunelle who is very athletic and our bookend OTs, and Pyne. Best offensive class in Kelly's tenure.

Don't get too amped for recruiting all that much, but I'm very excited about seeing this guy play for ND in the years to come. Hope he makes good choices and stays healthy.

Mayer’s CovCath squad hosted Lexington Catholic tonight. LexCath’s QB, Beau Allen, is a 3-star UK commit with a Washington State offer.

Allen’s team surprised CovCath early and took a lead into halftime in a game that wasn’t expected to be close. The second half was a shootout, with Lex Cath leading 38-31 late.

CovCath scored late to tie it, kicked a good XP, but the ball got moved up on an offside penalty... and our boy Michael Mayer ran it in from the fullback spot for the two point conversion and the 39-38 win.

He had a few runs in short yardage, 5 or 6 catches, and a bunch of tackles.

I think he could legit be the next Gronk and I selfishly want to see an NKY boy hauling in many TD’s, so I hate putting it into the universe again, but this dude might be just as good at MIKE as he is TE. He has a high motor, reads plays well, and gets downhill with bad intentions.

He’d be a 5-star LB prospect if more teams ran pro-style offenses. He’s an elite run stopper, IMO.

Mike is more important in HS football but with his physical skill set, Shark would be his best spot at ND (on D). I've said it before, if ND isn't gonna use him at the Eifert WR spot, they are wasting him at the 25-35 reception TE spot and should move him to D. Foskey figured it out before he left HS.

Little doubt in my mind Mayer is a Top 10 HS football player when it comes to production from both sides of the ball.

A pick-6 to make it 20-0, then forced a fumble on the next drive to stop LaSalle from getting some momentum. Two drives later, he has a big catch to put his team inside the 5, leading to another TD and a 27-0 lead.

I think he’s got 6 catches for ~50 yards, total.

In a game with a bunch of DI dudes lining up on the other side, Mayer has risen to the occasion. (And it’s again his defensive chops that are stealing the show.)
