Definitely bad optics. I’m not going to overly judge high school kids though because lord knows people mature a lot from when they’re teenagers to when they’re fully formed adults. What should be a teaching moment for some kids has turned into wall-to-wall media coverage because it’s 2019 and nothing gets more clicks than saying “See! This is proof that ALL white Christians are EVIL!”

Like I’m not even being sensational, there is literally a top trending hashtag #ChristianSchoolsExposed. I’ll save the rest of my thoughts for the politics section.

I would say it’s a bit more than “bad optics”. Considering the large number of kids who seemed to be involved doesn’t it beg the question as to how shitty do these kids parents, teachers and other mentors have to be in order for these kids to even begin to believe that this type of shit would be even close to being ok? In my opinion this represents a significant failure on the part of every parent and faculty memeber at that school and they should collectively be ashamed of themselves.

the kids were assholes, but the spokesperson for the Native American group did say that it was the guy (who was chanting), who approached the kid (which created the face to face stare down) in an attempt to "diffuse the situation". based on the vids out there, we don't see how it all started. i'm sure more vids will surface. if anything, i'll bet the kids were being jackasses doing a competing chant, the elder took offense and approached the kid, the stare down happened, and both sides tried to out chant each other. if the kids weren't Catholic and wearing MAGA hats, it wouldn't be getting near the press. just another reason why political crap should be banned from all schools.

Ignorance runs deep, man. People have been out of sorts since forever. Plus, ‘disrespectful teenager’ is a difficult stereotype to break out of, especially since entitlement is what many teenagers believe they lay claim to when their shitty behavior is excused as part of their biological phase. Unfortunately, it isn’t always just a phase, as adults have often proven it’s okay to be an a-hole.

Right, it is very fair to hold the adults accountable. I do expect adults to know how to handle themselves, I do not feel comfortable crucifying a bunch of teenagers for what is at it's core a teaching moment.

When I say "bad optics" for the students I mean that it's a bad look for them to be involved in this sort of confrontation... and that the main reason this is getting the pub it's getting is the optics of smirking MAGA whitey vs tribal elder. That sh*t plays well to the masses.

We've seen violent protests, destruction of property, etc. get way less attention than this is. Why? I'll pick up the rest in the politics section.

Right! A lot of focus presently on the lack of success with our 2nd WR spot and rightfully so. But, damn, if that isn’t causing some folks to lose sight of good this offensive class is. We have a truly elite player at LT, WR, RB and TE. We also have quality players at QB, TE, and RT.

He reminds you of college Eifert, the WR people called a TE. Eifert has no film of his antics on this stage, vs 4.75* defenders while in HS. I mean, he blew by, seperated and then elevated over Derek Wingo.

Maybe ND fans should stop worrying about who the "next" 2020 WR is and realize he's right here. He very well could never line up attached in his career. A career where he's used like Eifert, Iowa's Noah Fant and OU's Grant Calcaterra would be just what the Dr. ordered.

What's weird about 247 is they say they do the 5 stars as 1st rd draft projections. Yet, they don't have a single TE in the top 32 or even close. If recent history tells us anything they should at least 1 5 star, top 32 TE. Probably more. And definitely more in the top 50-75.

I believe I said this before but seems clear they're just not comfortable evaluating them.

And he beat Phillip Webb on another but the ball was underthrown and Webb was able to recover and tip it away. It was a nice recovery by Webb but Mayer had him beat and would've been another big play completion.
