With Jurkovec entering the transfer portal, Drew Pyne will have to be a quick learner as he will be third on the depth chart. If Book gets injured or underperforms in 2020, we will have only two options, Clark (who has played sparingly) or Pyne (who has yet to take a snap at ND). Both are unproven, and neither has Jurkovec's skill set.

How many quarterbacks have transferred out during Kelly's tenure? I can think of the following: Kiel, Zaire, Golson, and Wimbush. Have there been others?

This, along with the aforementioned Hendrix and Crist, seems like an alarming number of QB transfers under Kelly. With that said, I'm curious how this stacks up vs other top programs with multiple 4 & 5 star QB's on the roster at the same time. I'm wondering if those programs have had a similar number of QB transfers over the past 10 years. Is this a Brian Kelly issue or if this is simply a product of having one starting position available and talented players moving for what they perceive to be a better path to playing time?

Highly recruited quarterbacks transferring is the new norm. It isn't just a Notre Dame thing. If they don't get playing time by year 2, they seem to pack their bags.

Kiel, Zaire, Golson, Wimbush, Hendrix, Crist, Montana, Jurkovec

look at that list tho. Few went on to do anything notable. Kiel is probably the only one that truly had some success elsewhere and even that was derailed eventually. Jurkovec is obviously tbd but the theme with most of these guys is they were given their chance and they were beat out by someone else, most of the time someone less highly regarded by the services. ND either maximized their time with those guys or didnt necessarily miss a beat because of having them leave.

History says Jurkovec transferring isn't going to slow ND down and that guys like Clarke and Pyne have had far more success at ND than those above.

Why is Montana even included in this? He walked on, did he ever even have a scholarship?

Nate was a good kid, but his dad was a real douche about the whole thing. He went all crazy soccer mom on ND after Nate transferred.

Yeah Daddy M was always an a$$hat. His kid wasnt fit to carry the ballbag and was only on campus because his old man was a legend but I guess ole pops couldnt take off the daddy glasses long enough to see. No way Nate should have remotely been around the program, much less get a scholarship, if not for daddy.

And then Joe has the sack to badmouth. Nice.

'Should' being the key word. I don't think they'll put him where he should be but it seems obvious he can play on the same field with those other good to elite players. #743 overall seems reserved for a guy that couldn't compete at all in that environment. So, I'll say he does get a meaningful bump to something like 400-500. He's got to be the lowest rated recruit at one of the 2 major AA games by 247.

And they dropped him to #746. I was hoping I would not be right on this

Beat me too it!. Nice toss. It's hard not to root for Drew. He's clearly going to get a fair amount of reps during Spring Ball which has to be exciting for him.
