If they're terrible enough then maybe his final season will be next season :)

As much as I'd love to have 23 back next year, I think if they continue to be as bad as they are, all the more reason to pack up and leave lol. His health has to be a concern at this point.

I think his draft stock will be more important. If he is projected as a low round pick he will be back. No clue if his stats this year will have an impact.

I'm not sure, either. I think he will get a mid-round grade regardless of how his numbers shake out this season. I think it's basically common knowledge to fans and scouts alike that he is a really well rounded back and that his OL this year is the sole reason he isn't matching or eclipsing last year's stats.

You just don't see many backs who have that kind of pass-pro prowess this early in their football careers. He has plus speed, solid balance/power, great vision and is a fine receiver...not to mention his character.

And if you're an RB getting a mid-round grade, you take it. Not many RBs go in the first 2 rounds nowadays, only the real freaks, for the most part.

kyren Williams helmet came off against VT for about the 200th time, does anyone know why his helmet is always coming off.

No. It might be that he doesn't give up in the tackle at all. But it is probably something else.

What chance he comes back for a 4th year?
I am starting to think he could with NIL and the projected improvement with the line.

He might not have the traits to be considered an elite back, but he does everything very well. He is likely the best pass catcher and pass blocker of the entire RB class.

There is too much risk for him to come back. He’s not going to turn into a 4.40 type of guy and would have more wear on his tires. And then there’s the potential for a severe injury.

Not sure what you call elite, but it's rare anymore to find a back that can pass pro and catch the ball at the level he does. He has plenty of speed. Clemson couldn't catch him in the open field. I don't think his yards being down will hurt his draft stock. NFL teams will watch film and know it's due to the line play. I think the only reason he's not ranked higher is simply his height. With him leaving early and this years line play, his numbers won't reflect it, but he will leave ND as one of the top 15-20 to have played at ND IMO.

Some elite company
George Gipp
Nick Eddy
Vagas Ferguson
Allen Pinkett
Autry Denson
Creighton Miller
Jerome Bettis
Johnny Lattner
Ricky Waters
Julius Jones
Darius Walker
Cierre Wood
Jerome Heavens
Josh Adams

First comparison to the Gipper I've seen! Well done Irish#1. (It was the blitz pick up that did it I'm sure)

Kyren is certainly one of my all-time favorite players, but I don’t know if I would consider him elite either. Also- you seemed to make the argument that he is elite and went on to make a list of “some elite company” that included several other non-elite guys, such as Julius Jones- listed twice above with incorrect spelling :)

Is that you Dshan?

Jones numbers

From si.com.......
For the record on Jones.....College Stats: 634 carries, 3,018 yards, 4.8 YPC, 26 TDs / 28 catches, 250 yards, 1 TD / 2,104 return yards, 2 TDs. Jones finished his career 5,372 all-purpose yards, which included 2,104 return yards. Think about this, Jones had more career return yards than Reggie Brooks had in all-purpose yards during his career. That is also more all-purpose yards than Denson (5,327).

Let me say that I think there's a big difference between Gipp, Ferguson, Pinkett, Denson, Eddy, Lattner, Miller, Bettis and the others listed, but they all have finished among the best statistically.

Obviously he's not on this level, but he is Barry-esque.

I was just coming to say the same thing.

There will never be another Barry Sanders, but sometimes when I squint, I see a part of him when Kyren is running.

The way he sets up defenders for the juke, the way guys just slide off of him, and the incredible patience and balance.
One more year 23!
Please!

He is such a talented back. Probably the best back in the Brian Kelly Era. Such an impressive player and young man. I never saw him coming forward as a freshman but woah how impressive he is. Even with a below average offensive line.
