Very interesting offer. Old School Dual Threat QB with 3500 APY, 49 TD's (29 pass - 20 rush) and only 1 INT. Also played some DB.

Love the work the staff is doing in St Louis. As I've been saying, it's loaded in '18 & '19 and a lot of the talent is at the big Catholic schools. A lot like a typical Cincy year. ND should rake in STL. Mizzou & Illinois aren't strong enough to compete. The town's wide open.

Agreed, the local sports radio has had multiple segments talking about how badly Mizzou needs to keep 50% of the talent at home and it'll change their program.

Which means ND needs to pluck em dry.

That sounds like Lamar Jackson numbers.

He'd be a nice addition right after Phil. Could play another position if we land a QB in '19 or '20.

He's doing the Chicago Showcase and then stopping by ND on Sunday. Most schools recruiting him as a WR/DB.

His sophomore highlights are incredible. Any superlative you can come up with, for an offensive player, fits with this kid. Electric, Dynamic, etc.

Most Ohio State Lock?

Must be, right?

In all seriousness, he has quite the affinity for the Illinois program currently. Speaks very highly of them.

There are many many worse schools than the U of I. There aren't many worse P5 football programs currently.

Who's the last kid we landed from Sluh outside of Armstrong? Feel like we really struggle there

Armstrong was from KC. Before that it was probably Paddy Mullen and Munir Prince during the Weis tenure.

They struggle because they haven't made it a priority. STL could be just like Cincy for ND. And with the talent in the '18-'20 classes that are there, this is why they are finally putting in the work. If they'd have taken Zeke at RB, they'd own that town right now.

Bonner? Right. From chesterfield. It's st louis county but still close

Yeah. Bonner is from St. Louis. Was the STL Post-Dispatch defensive player of the year as a senior. Not certain where in STL he grew up, but he went to Parkway Central. (A few big districts, including the City of STL, have lost their accreditation, so many kids transfer to better suburban districts.)

But yeah you'd think we'd do better there, especially with all the big Catholic schools and lack of any real local powers. Mizzou has long struggled to recruit in STL, for various reasons. Illinois does well on the east side (and East St. Louis itself, which is one of the top programs in the state, probably doesn't produce a lot of good fits for Notre Dame). But kids from the Missouri side of the river kind of wind up all over the place.

Composite 5 star commited to Illinois back on 3/23. What in the world is going on.

An old coach from high school was hired on as I think the TE coach for the Illini

Isn’t the rule then they can’t recruit that school for 2 years?

Evidently only applies to NON coaching staff and strength and conditioning staff. Brilliant.

Bylaw 11.4, reads like this:
In football, during a two-year period before a prospective student-athlete's anticipated enrollment and a two-year period after the prospective student-athlete's actual enrollment, an institution shall not employ (or enter into a contract for future employment with) an individual associated with the prospective student-athlete in any athletics department noncoaching staff position or in a strength and conditioning staff position.

This definition includes, but is not limited to, parents, legal guardians, handlers, personal trainers and coaches. An individual who meets this definition retains such status during the enrollment of the prospective student-athlete at the institution.

I actually think that makes sense. High risk / reward proposition, considering the importance of on-field coaching.

It took a little while for Lovie Smith to get the boosters up and running at that program, as they had been dormant for several years, but they got going just before signing day to wrap up 4* DL Calvin Avery from Texas & IMG Teammates Verdis Brown & Reuben Unije. If Illinois keeps that up they should land Isaiah Williams, Marquez Beason, and then maybe Jason Bargy, Jirehl Brock, Shammond Cooper & Jahleel Billingsley. I think most of those guys get higher pay days from the big dogs, but impressive payouts by the Fighting Illini
