When I see video of him I simply don't get what our staff's deal is with him. Did Waggoner hit on Paqui or something?

Me had the sads too.

BUT, I feel better since looking at his Opening scores. Not the athlete I thought he was.

What concerns you? I'm hesitant to knock a kid for bad scores at a camp. I think we put too much into that stuff personally. I would love to see stats on the success of top performers at the Opening.

All I know is that he has awesome measurables, wants to be here and has a terrific tape. Considering our luck with DE's in recent history, you would think we would be hoarding kids like that.

FWIW, after Waggoner's visit, Matt Freeman of ISD said that he's okay with not offering the kid at the moment. He doesn't consider the kid to be an upgrade over anything the staff currently has. The staff is waiting to see what they have with other guys who are higher on their board.

I would argue that Karlaftis is definitely not anything better than what we have either. If the measuring stick is "better than what we have" then we won't ever pick up DE's early again.

Well Karlaftis is also '19 and he had to wait to get an offer too. What's Waggoner's projected position? SDE? I think between Booker and a couple of other guys they prefer at the position, they have the option of holding.

Take em all. If Waggoner wants to be here, which he does, then he'll play where we damn well put him. Hell, Harry might turn him into a tackle if he couldn't break into the lineup at SDE. If he didn't like it, transfer. Either way, turning away this type of ripe, low hanging fruit is absurd.

Karlaftis is a good offer because he's a '19 as VLK said. He's got time to improve and show he's worthy of the offer or they can give him the cold shoulder and he goes to Purdue.

Johnny Wags, I'll talk about in his thread. I just posted his scores.

So he's got an offer and George says that ND will be a player even if the U offers. What do you think, Crus? He's coming back this weekend, per ISD. Is that enough or this just a matter of time?

I think if and when the Miami offer comes, he'll have to go down there and check it out. Something tells me that the locker room culture in Coral Gables will be much different than West Lafayette High's. I think he has to do it for his Dad. He's carried that torch by wearing Miami gear all these years and saying that Miami's his dream offer... BUT ND through his Mom's side of the family gives him an out and he doesn't have to put half a continent in between himself and his loved ones. Also of note: If I remember correctly, his father was born in Greece and only came to the States to go to school so it's not like if he goes to Miami that he has the other side of the family nearby.

I just think he stays regional. I think Mom is a Purdue grad and Dad actually got his PhD from there... Probably how they met. So throw that into the mix too.

...and then what happens when Urbie & Hairball come knocking?

If It's ND vs Miami, I'll take ND. If it's ND vs the field, who knows?

Honestly this was way more insightful than I was expecting. Thanks, repped

IMO........Education is a priority in this recruitment, so ND gets the nod. If he does vists Coral Gables, let's hope it's during a game so he can witness a half empty stadium.

No CB's from the guys from ISD, the site I wish everyone would take the CB's seriously and the site I wish we would see more of them.

But honestly I'll wait and see when Miami offers. I feel like kids are good with telling certain sites what they want to hear. Some kids will tell the goods to ND site and then kids will tell the goods about Miami to the Miami site.

Didn't make Scout's Top 125. Scout was pretty tough on a lot of Midwest players that I thought would be higher.

I didn't know Wiltfong and his posse CB'd him to ND.

Him Loy and 2 of the OSU guys did back in April.

247 says he is set to visit Miami F on July 21. We'll see what happens then.

Expectation is working out for a Miami offer and receiving one probably changes that.

I believe him when he says he loves ND, but I also believe he gone if the U offers.

They're gonna offer, right?. Bama offered.

We'll see. I hope they do offer and he gets the chance to go there if that's still his desire.

He's pretty much said Miami is his dream school and would commit back in the day. Not sure what he would do now but he's a national recruit and a must get for ND

This is one of those recruits that ND will lose out on and a majority of the fanbase, 247, will lose their collective crap over, as he's a highly ranked IN DE going elsewhere. On the other hand, I won't shed a tear. There are a few DE's that I think ND has a legitimate shot at, that I like more. I guess we'll see.

It's been reported for a long while that when he receives the Miami offer, it would pretty much be game over.

I'm glad my Dad went to Murray State for basketball, took all the pressure of being a legacy off because i had no interest in Murray and my Dad wanted me to go elsewhere anyways. Now had he gone to UK and Joe B. would have wanted me... that would've been a whole different story, especially if he had died and I grew up a Wildcat fan and not a IU fan.

The kids in a tricky spot. Going to Miami F means moving away from his family in West Lafayette but after growing up in Athens, maybe the city of Miami is a better place for him than WL or SB and maybe he has a promise to uphold too.

It shall be interesting to follow.
