Very weird/funny that Smith and Martin are winding down as Nelson and Hamilton are in their primes.
It's just Father Time being undefeated and those guys being drafted years apart. Zach was a 5th year, Q a 4 year player and they were drafted 4 years apart. It's nice of Q to wait until Zach is about to retire to claim the title of best Guard in football.

Unfortunately for him 5 of the 6 best RB years are all NFC. Joe Mixon getting selected on the AFC side is wild though.

(Chase Brown had a better year than Mixon and wasn’t even a starter until the halfway point basically)

I think people remember Mixon's white hot start. He legitimately looked amazing and the advanced stats were there too

Mixon still has some juice! I figured high-volume use would be good for him.

Also always thought Cincy woefully underused him as a pass-catcher considering the way Oklahoma used him, but I’m not an NFL OC so idk. Wish Cincy could’ve paid him, but Brown is a nice (rookie contract) alternative.

Glad Taylor was selected. Much better than Mixon and a nicer guy.

Q has graded out the highest of all interior linemen. He was a lock. Should also be All Pro this year.

Surprised Kyren wasn't on this list.

What happened to Ronnie Stanley? Have the injuries taken their toll?

How close was Alt to being selected? I saw some good stats a few weeks back but I don't know how he stacks up against the best of the best. Julian Love? How's he doing?

I haven't checked stats, but I remember seeing some tweets where Alt was grading out very high.

How does that option work? Is it pretty much the franchise tag salary or does every 1st round pick get the same amount if that option is picked up?

Nah if I'm not mistaken it's an average of the salaries at the position, so the salary for the fifth year is position specific. I'm sure there are also some contracts that have incentives, like Pro Bowls etc.

Several factors are determined in the amount of a fifth-year options, including whether that player made multiple Pro-Bowls, or just one Pro-Bowl. Amount of snaps played is factored in for those that don't reach a Pro-Bowl.

What is a fifth-year option in the NFL? Explaining deadline for teams to pick up final year of rookie contract | Sporting News Canada

There are several factors used to determine the cost of a fifth-year option, based on the 2020 NFL Collective Bargaining Agreement. There have been changes made to the factors over the years, but the following are the steps for players drafted in the first round in 2018 and beyond.

The highest-paid fifth-year option will be for players who earn multiple Pro Bowls on the original ballot in their career. Alternates are not counted. Those players will earn a salary based on the franchise tag cost of a player at that position. Next up are players who are named to just one Pro Bowl. Those players earn the equivalent of their respective position's transition tag cost.

If a player was not named to any Pro Bowl teams (or was only named as an alternate), playing time becomes a factor. Players that appeared in either 75-plus percent of possible snaps in two of their first three seasons, an average of 75-plus percent of possible snaps during all three seasons, or at least 50 percent of possible snaps all three seasons will receive a salary that is the average of the 3rd-20th highest paid players at the position over the past five years.

First-round picks who don't meet that playing time criteria earn an average of the 3rd-25th highest salaries over the past five years.
