Kind of crazy how bad we're scrambling for OL in this class with two AAs on the left side...

If we had normal OL recruiting this year (i.e. lots of high-to-mid four star guys) this class would be insane... probably top 5 caliber.

Big kid with P5 and ivy offers. Not the shiniest recruit in the country, but seems like a safe bet for the program, and we need bodies if Jones sticks with Arkansas.

Reps to anyone who checks out his film, and take into account competition. I'm stuck at work.

Is this offensive Heggie or is there a chance he can develop?

He isn't Heggie. Is he a starter? Eh I doubt it, but he is quality depth IMO. He gets off the ball quick, looks like a capable puller, and moves well. Like many D1 OL (whether FCS or FBS I would say) he can finish his blocks. Once engaged he keeps his drive. His kick step looks good too, and he keeps his feet as he pass blocks.

I don't know if we'd ever see him playing, I could be wrong. But he certainly is not a bad prospect.

kid seems pretty athletic. doesnt appear to "catch" defenders too much and uses solid inside hand placement. Didn't look like his punch had much pop to it yet but i wouldnt expect too many 6'7" 17/18 yo's to have grown into that body yet.

So I took a poop.

Agree with you guys, plenty athletic but he needs to put on 50 pounds. Which doesn't make this impossible since he's allegedly 6'7".

He needs 3 years, but that might just work out for us. I don't mind the pick up if we take him.

I like him better than the kid from Arkansas. I think this will be a very solid pickup for the Irish when he signs this week <----- prediction.

Now the staff can go all in on NPF.

Didn't see this one coming. I followed this kid when Kearney or Peloquin did in the spring. At the time they were scouring the country looking for OT's. I thought Matteo Mele from here in AZ would get the developmental offer if it ever came.

I saw Brian Perroni's CB to ND. He's on top of the TX scene.

He moves well for a big kid. He's not Jarrett Patterson.

Looks like Josh Lugg hosted him.

If Olmstead and Carroll are behind him like we hope. Good luck. Being sandwiched between Eich, Hainsey, Lugg then Olmstead and Carroll for NPF is one thing, for mere mortals it's Mt Everest.

BOOM?

The roster needs a quality scout team

And who knows, this kid could make the very difficult jump to starter by his RS junior or Senior year

Positives: Very good frame, likes to hit, mirrored his defenders pretty well

Negatives: He doesn't have much lateral quickness (so quicker DEs will eat his lunch), he needs additional strength

I think it would be awesome if we could Fillip him.

Before I get all of the negative reps I just need to say that you all wanted to post the same thing.

As a pure OT prospect, I agree. As a need for this class, I'd rather have a swing OL that better projects inside. Like Jones or Hunter Woodard from IL... especially if they are really in it for NPF.

But with what's on the shelf and in the queue, swing for the fence I guess. Jarrett Patterson looks like a much better player (at the moment) but he'll never be 6-7.

I agree. Makes me wonder if the staff hasn't had a change in direction on depth chart, current players committed, etc. And I don't mean that as a negative. But, like you said, this guy screams OT only, while Jones was definitely a swing OL that projected best inside.

I'd be good to go with a commitment here.

Sounds like their was quite a bit of time spent making sure they found a guy that they wanted, rankings be damned. I'm assuming that Bill Rees might have played a role in this one. This is the type of recruitment where he shows his value.

I'm guessing the timing of this offer is not an indicator of where we stand with Jones or NPF. I think it has everything to do with the early signing period. We have to offer our backup plans now to avoid having them sign early with other teams.

Don't know for sure, but it was mentioned that HH was really sick and not doing much recruiting for 1-2 weeks.

I wonder if some of this was delayed due to that. That's just me spitballin, though.

This is actually very odd.

IMO the Irish are going to struggle next year because of the relatively new O-line.

Eichenberg
Kraemer
Mustipher
Bars
Hainsey

Is on average quite inexperienced for the SOS they will face.

Eichenberg a RS soph will be starting for the first time and will need time to develop (first start facing Rashan Gary)

Kraemer a RS Soph playing LG for the first time...will need an adjustment period

Mustipher will need to learn to play with Kraemer now that Q is gone

Bars....no issues,

hainsey...needs to really step up his play from last year

Experienced back ups....absolutely nothing...and I mean nothing with experience! Although Lugg and Banks will be players at some point.

But what is really bugging me is..... with only 10 scholarship players coming back....HH and BK go out and get Dirksen and Mabry....underwhelming being the most positive descriptive and now double down with Fillip....who film shouts scout team player for life.

WTF happened?? How did HH go from all world recruiter to MAC level?

If Fillip fillips to ND, I'm assuming Jones is off the board, but NPF is a take no matter what ND has to do?

Depth issues have turned some kids away (bredeson for example)

Depth issues have turned some kids away (bredeson for example)

Not seeing Depth being an issue for recruiting

I see Depth being an issue if the injury bug hits.....like a 4-8 issue

For example if Mustipher went down...the one line would be

Eichenberg
Kraemer
hainsey
Bars
Lugg

Now that is a fantastic o-line ....TWO YEARS FROM NOW.
