Loy indicated he's going to play offense in college so they don't think he's coming to ND.

How does Loy know he'll play offense? Has Taylor decided that?
If so, yeah, he's probably not coming. But worth it to keep talking with him.

Loy stated, that since Taylor's ND visit, he's had a lot of conversations with HS coaches and some college coaches that he trusts. The general consensus of those is that he should play WR. In reality, this shouldn't be surprising as some are probably UGA, Tenn., Bama, etc., fans or coaches but that has started to sway him in his recruitment.

Loy believes that we misjudged this recruitment a little, in that we believed Taylor truly thought DB was his preferred position. Keep in mind, he told almost all of the ND beat reporters that DB was his preferred position, prior to visiting.

Sometimes prospects tell people what they want to here. My assumption is we'll continue to recruit him, but not sure it matters.

I don't get why commits have to shout things out. This belies his true feelings. He's conflicted and trying to convince himself.

ND wanted him at CB. At first, he was considering it. Now he's certain he wants to be a WR.

Next month, who knows what he'll want. Maybe he pans out, maybe he doesn't.

He and ND can now MTFO

Totally agree here. ASB and Keys are most likely the final two targets for one spot remaining at WR. If Taylor wants to come in as an athlete, I bet he would get a look and see if he fits in better one way or the other, but intended to play corner if he can’t beat out others ahead of him.

I often wonder why these guys freak out about positions as I am sure if they can prove the staff wrong they will play where they want. Plus, if the staff really wants x player, they will afford them the opportunity to ensure they are on-board with the class. Then, once in campus, let the chips fall where they may.

But really, what do these college coaches know about where these kids should play, they've only been doing this for 20-30 years. Trying to make this kid into a LT, that is just stupid!

With UT's offense the way it is... Alontae would probably catch more balls on defense than offense for them...

Vol fans were basically saying the same thing back when Bama offered him as a DB. Said he would probably catch more balls as a DB for Bama then as a WR for Tennessee. I almost felt sorry for how far they have fallen. LOL

After looking at Alontae's top 5. I think his previous tweet (which has since been deleted) was referring to his dream of playing QB in college. Louisville and Georgia Tech are recruiting him as a QB.

Here is an old article that refers to how all he ever wanted to play at the next level was QB.

https://www.indystar.com/story/sports/high-school/2017/07/10/tennessean-dandy-dozen-alontae-taylor/402007001/

Deep down, Alontae Taylor is a quarterback.

He's always been a quarterback.

It's one of the many positions he's played over the past three years at Coffee County, where he's amassed 6,169 total yards and 52 total touchdowns as a dual-threat quarterback.

"Growing up, that's all I ever wanted to play," said Taylor, a 6-foot-1, 181-pound senior. "Going to the next level, that's what I wanted to play. I just love having the ball in my hands."
