I bet he cancels the UT visit by Friday and commits to ND. Probably got a Monday call from UT staff they asked for a chance to change his mind, he couldn't say no.

Doesn't really make sense to go to Knoxville to talk to a staff that won't be there next year.

Forget the staff, go hang out with your boys on the team and that lil honey, Jackie Daniels from the next town over, Lynchburg.

The JD distillery is awesome. Would recommend to anyone taking a trip to Nashville (may be a little far from Knoxville). Truth be told, I actually liked Knoxville too the one night I stayed there.

Taylor goes to HS 15-30 minutes from the distillery, that's why I brought it up.

Lynchburg is hour and a half away from Nashville but well worth the drive. Real close to my house, and as a non-drinker I still enjoyed it.

I think we’ll be finding out some concrete details on this recruitment by Wednesday next week at the latest. He either visits Tennessee and stays with them, cancels his visit and comes wth us, or gets torn between the two in which we’ll probably see some other visits scheduled to figure out his decision. I think one of the first two happens by next week tho

Having been born in Fort Wayne and have lived in Chicago, Seattle, and now Knoxville (past two years), this is easily my favorite city... The size/cost of living/family upbringing/quality of breweries/restaurants ratio is off the charts... Not too mention it checks the nature mark bigly.

Shit is getting serious at the WR position! If ND were to land Porter and Taylor, does anyone think this sways ASB's decision either way? I know different positions and all, but still...

ASB is above worrying who joins the team he chooses as far as competition for snaps, the only person that matters in ASB's recruitment as far as ND is concerned is his best friend, Julius Irvin.

..and ND is recruiting Taylor as an ATH with the opportunity to try out on both side of the ball but as much as i like what he does with the ball in his hand, he's not Kevin Austin who he's most simila tor in ND's targets. If Porter joins, he's not anywhere near as fast, if ASB joins, no comparison and Micah Jones is the next gen ESB/Boykin/Claypool stretch WR. If it all works out, he'll serve ND better on D.

ACK -- makes sense. How do we look for Irvin?

I think it's a jump ball. Washington feels good and wants him worse than ND does but they see him as an All American Free Safety. ND analysts are more confident than me.

And I know SC is doing whatever they can in LA to woo him because of his relationship with ASB.

A Scout west coast analyst thinks it's USC and UDub with ND trailing those two schools. TWIW.

Still don't know what happened about the sudden split with pOSU, but his "excuse" for dropping them is comical. Someone needs to tell him that Notre Dame is farther from home than pOSU.

https://n.rivals.com/news/back-from-notre-dame-rivals250-tennessee-commit-sets-more-visits

Rivals250 Manchester (Tenn.) Coffee County and Tennessee wide receiver commit Alontae Taylor took his first official visit over the weekend and he throughly enjoyed his time in South Bend.

"I liked it a lot," Taylor said. "I really like the culture I like how everything is different, I like how they coaches interact with the players and how they treat each other. I like the fan base's attitude towards the team. It feels like everyone is in it together. I like the way Coach Kelly handled winning with style, he had a chance to run up the score a little but he won with class."

Now that Taylor has had a chance to experience South Bend and his high school career is officially over, he's reshuffled several of his upcoming visits. Off the schedule is a planned official visit to Ohio State and in is trips to Georgia (Nov. 17) and Wake Forest (Dec. 1).

"I decided to change things up a little bit," Taylor said. "After talking about it with my family we realized that Ohio State was pretty far from home so while that was a great offer for me I think I'm going to focus on some other options."

But before he makes the trip to Athens or anywhere else, Taylor will first check in with Butch Jones and Tennessee this weekend to get the latest on the coach's future.

"Basically I just want to check in and see because I haven’t been up there since all the stuff has been happening," Taylor said. "I’ve talked to coach Jones via text and on the phone but I want to talk him in person and see how everything is going and how the players are doing, their body language and stuff like that."

While the Georgia trip is now finalized according to Taylor, it has been in the works for quite sometime, even before rumors started swirling about Jones' job security on Rocky Top. Georgia is offering Taylor a spot to play defense and he said he's doing his due diligence by checking out the Dawgs.

"They are having a great season and they have been recruiting me for a while," Taylor said. "They see me as a wide receiver and they aren't recruiting a ton of guys at that position so I think it's a place I could come in and get a chance to play early."

The inclusion of Wake Forest in Taylor's plans might seem as a surprise for some, but the Demon Deacons were among his first offers and his cousin D.J. Taylor is a current member of the program.

"Wake Forest has been recruiting me for a quite a while," said Taylor, who is also an accomplished student. "My cousin D.J. is there and he's playing for them and he's told me they are doing something special so I want to see it for myself."

Tennessee will get the last shot at Taylor before he announces and signs during the Dec. 20-22 early signing period.

So basically

Tennessee - 2h45m away - 7/20/17 & 9/9/17 & 9/23/17 & 9/30/17 & 11/4/17 & 12/9/17
Georgia - 4h away - 4/2/17 & 11/18/17
Wake Forest - 6h45m away - 12/2/17
Notre Dame - 7h55m away - 10/28/17

Decides 12/22/17 @ 12:00PM

No idea what’ll happen in his recruitment but ND is farthest away if he’s worried about being close to home. Also, He’s been to Georgia before and will be back. And he’s been to Tennessee a whole bunch and has witnessed the dumpster-fire first hand. Curious to see which way he goes. I hope Tennessee doesn’t fire Butch and bring in someone quick to real him in before early enrollment cause I think if he had to make a decision today it might be ND but a ton could change.

Distance is NOT a factor. It is an excuse (a bad one) to drop pOSU. If distance was a factor, why in the world would you replace pOSU with Wake Forest. They are the same distance from his home.

I prefer him at CB personally, especially with our lack of numbers there recently in recruiting.

Didn't think we had much chance at him before, think even less now. Bama offers him as a DB
