So maybe HH is going to make an all out run at Cade Mays with Tennessee looking like a smoldering tire thrown in a dumpster full of jet fuel.

The bad news: His Dad, Kevin Mays was an All-SEC OG and Captain for the Vols and is in their HOF.

The good news: same Catholic school as Harrison Smith.

Has a younger brother that will be a 4 star OG in the Class of '20. Cooper Mays and KC also has one of the top OL in 2020, Bryn Tucker who will get an ND offer at some point.

Hopefully someone else can fill in any nugs I missed, I'm not a 247 subscriber.

He is working on a visit. My roommate has strong vols connections and he is definitely looking around to say the least. I've got a feeling he may want to see Butch replaced

His family wants Butch gone and believe his time is up in Tennessee.

I think Tennessee will fire BJ at some point this year and the replacement will be enough to keep Mays right where he is.

From the Tennessee boards I was reading, most thought that he was extremely tight with Butch Jones and that a likely firing is why he's looking around.

I have no clue which is true.

Yea, I'm getting the dead opposite from the beat writer.

Lives in Knoxville? Hard to imagine pulling this one off, even with Tennessee being a dumpster fire.

ND pulled Harrison Smith out of the same HS when Fulmer had them winning 9 - 10 games.

Plus HH's is manufacturing millionaires on the regular. Why chance it with whoever comes in next? Would really suck if UT hired a crazy spread coach or one of the Navy option types.

Not your point, but to comment on college offenses being different than NFL ones: Andy Reid has recently tailored his offense in KC to accompany the strengths of linemen that are used to playing in crazy spread type offenses. It could be the next "wildcat" fad, or something that sticks. Time will tell.

Per Loy: Mays actually quietly decommitted from Tennessee earlier this weekend. New leaders are Alabama and Notre Dame, with possible moves by Clemson and Ohio State.

"In addition, I’m told there is a connection between Hiestand and someone close to Mays, which is helping the Fighting Irish on this front."

Now THIS is the type of intel I pay for here on IE!

Good news. Mays' Dad has to know HH from his days in Knoxville and to know Harry is to love Harry.

The Vols fans are pretty depressed at the thought of Mays opening up his recruitment. Not only is he a 5 star, hometown kid and a legacy, but he has been the ringleader trying to recruit kids to join him at Tennessee. If he ends up someplace else, there is a lot of concern that their recruiting class could blow up. If you would've asked any Vols fan two weeks ago, which recruit are you not worried about decommitting, it would've been Mays.
