I think Sam's hair may rival Bobby D's. Yeah, I know that's sacrilegious, but I said it.

What's a good WF/Hartman game to watch from last season? Found some free time this afternoon and want to check him out in action.

Thanks.

Same Hartman is significantly better than Ian Book, so I'm fully aboard the hype train. Granted he played great that game, but great players show up for the biggest games. I came away more impressed than I expected. Also his WRs were dogs that game. Not sure ours are better to be honesy, but hope they are.

Need to change the title from Notre Dame Transfer to Notre Dame Captain. Changes should also be made to Alt, Hart and Bertrand threads. He’s more than just a transfer. And the others are more than just signees.

Everyone should be relaxed about both Sam and the WRs. He DID have one excellent WR who was drafted, and a TE who walked on as a free agent. But basically he turned an entire WR room into a success --- as he will do with ours. Hartman is a great WR elevator, and he will do the same for any of ours who actually have talent and brains to run the routes. Any watching of WF games shows that. I only wonder if our interior OLine is going to hold up. If they do (and I think they will) Sam will carve every defense up. I really look forward to the idiot TV commentators having to take Sam seriously --- I watched an hour long show on 2023 projections and noted that although MANY QBs were mentioned Sam was not. ... neither was Notre Dame.

One question, one statement.

So, is this confirmation that NIL was a part of the UA deal?

Obvious and significant example of ND using NIL to benefit the football program.
Are $160 free shoes really "significant" in the landscape of NIL? I'd say unequivocally not even close.

Depending on if/what Sam got, perhaps. Maybe that's what you meant, but no way to say if it's significant without terms.

They put that video out themselves. They aren’t going to pump videos of the players real money nil deals

The shoes themselves wouldn’t be, but Freeman mentions at the very beginning of the video that Hartman got “NIL” from UA.

I’d imagine he’s making decent money from UA, and the shoes were just for marketing, especially considering UA could give them for free as part of their team-issue gear for Dublin anyway.

Caleb Williams did the same thing at USC right after he signed his deal with Beats By Dre… gave several teams headphones to publicize his deal.

Glad ND leveraged that UA deal for one player
Haha, they’ve had it for like two weeks.

But, even without considering that. His impact on this season will likely be far greater than any 5 star recruit we could have bought last cycle.

Yes, I would rather have ND buy the ACC’s all time passing leader than a 5 star Freshman QB. Seems insane if some disagree with that.

Did he just list quarterbacks who have been around at P5's for a couple years or?

The takeaway from that video is the shoes? Lol.

It’s that Sam Hartman got a deal from our apparel sponsor. That felt obvious.
That is not the only takeaway. MF says at the beginning of the video, " "Part of my discussions with Jack when we started talking about Under Armor... I said, hey, take care of our players.," which directly confirms MF talked to JS about the next apparel deal - JS didn't just do what he wanted without getting MF's input - so when MF stressed "Hey, take care of our players,' that directly implies he thought the next deal should include more than just apparel and money for the university, and I think there's no doubt he was referring to NIL.

The next words out of his mouth were, "One of those things is they already did an NIL deal with Sam." The words "those things" in that sentence refer to the things MF was telling JS he wanted UA to do for ND players and he confirmed UA was already doing it. They were already doing an NIL deal with at least one ND player. MF said out loud to the players and the public that not only is UA willing to do NIL deals with ND players, but it's also something he was looking for in the next deal.

I've not seen anything concrete to say NDs NIL deals are "significant". Lots of "oh trust me Sam is probably getting paid". Loose hints at it, and I feel you guys are taking that a bit too wishfully. A deal is only as good as it's terms. If they gave him $20K, who cares, that's nothing for a caliber player like him and he'd definitely have passed up much more to come to ND.

So consider me unsold that it's substantial/significant. It's like the UFO thread - maybe, but there's even less proof ND's NIL game is significant than there are that UFOs are visiting us. ND could very well have a strong NIL game but I haven't seen anything close to convincing me it has.

The flip side of this is equally true. He could have gone lots of places. He came here. It probably wasn't only about NIL but if our NIL wasn't competitive we would not have landed the best quarterback on the transfer market. I'm sure Alabama wanted him too.

And while I agree that our NIL offers to recruits - as opposed to guys like Hartman - are not competitive when compared with what the big spenders are offering, I also think there's far more smoke and mirrors to some "$4 million" NIL deal for Hot Shit QB Recruit that only turns out to be $100K than whatever it is we're doing with guys like Hartman.

I wouldn't be surprised if Nicco didnt get the $8M at Tennessee. But with a number like that he likely cleared 7 figures. It doesn't have to be exact to what's reported for it to send a signal of what it is.

We've never heard as much as $1 for a ND player. The biggest "proof" We've had is via the beats who quote recruits who say NIL was discussed, and that basically it's not a deal breaker (aka, NDs is weak).

We just lost three, 5-star commits in one class due to NIL. Not sure how much more clear it can be ND ain't it for NIL.

So do you think the best QB in the transfer portal chose ND without any NIL guarantees?
