why weren't we beating Clemson with any quarterback? We gave up 30 points to the best offense in the country despite going 3 and out every freaking drive it felt like and a bunch of flukey breaks that went against ND.

I think Book gets about as much as he can out of his ability, and I appreciate that. But he's benefitted from being on an exceptionally good team during his time here.

Phil's play hasn't been miraculous. Again, the Clemson fumble at the 1 that was returned is the real difference here, they should be up 2 TDs right now. Phil has done absolutely nothing in the 3rd quarter, he's done. Clemson adjusted.

Hes put 21 on the board against Clemson with BC. If we took him out and put Book in, do you think BC would have more points?

He's not lighting the world on fire, but he appears to be doing pretty well with a mediocre team against a top team.

Clemson is up now. Clemson was obviously overlooking BC and they got some early scores, but they cleaned it up and Phil has done nothing 2nd half. Credit BC for taking advantages of the early Clemson struggles, but Phil has just under 200 yards with just 10 minutes left, against a backup QB. Book would have hit some of these short passes Phil is missing on, and Phil had two turnovers reversed by luck.

Again, want it on the record. We all want to see Ian do great and light it up the rest of the season. It is hard to see how he is suddenly going to be a star though. He doesn't have the physical attributes and I suspect this is just who he is at this point in his career.

Momentum is swinging back as I suspected. Fact is 3 first half TDs are impressive and doesn’t include the fumble TD. Phil could play better but I’d literally sign up immediately for Bookto put up 3 tds next week for the entire game. Do that and play solid ST and D, we likely win

I get that, but if Book is living up to or exceeding his potential then how is that his fault? I'm not going to get down on him when higher rated QBs fail to unseat him, that's either their fault or the recruiting sites. To date no ND QB transfer has really lit the world on fire, Phil is probably done better than most, but he's not going to be a high draft pick or anything.

Would I like to have a Quinn under center? Sure, but I also know that there's maaaybe 2-4 really elite QBs in any college football season and it's hard to predict who will step up and who will not. Finding the next Trevor Lawrence can be difficult given that small number of QBs that do excel above and beyond. For that reason I appreciate we have a guy like Book that is committed despite fan displeasure and still manages to win.

If ND gets three not garbage time touchdowns next week, I will be amped because like you, I think that will have us in a position to make it a game against the best team in the country.

Stop trying so hard. It went right through his TEs hands. He hasn’t been great, but it undermines your good points when you’re so blatantly biased

The first one hit his dude in the hands and fell to a dude laying on the ground.

He is a big boy and he got the ball back on the fumble.

That one was lucky. No reason to miss that throw that bad

He's literally done nothing the entire 2nd half though. People were slobbering all over him while Clemson was playing like ass. He's going 3 and out now.

That’s true. Not all on him, but after a great 1st half it isn’t going well
