Nice QB sneak for Phil. Let’s face it he could have been given a lot more opportunities to show us what he could do in clean up duty than he got. We will see what he has now and if turns out to be something clearly better than what we have seen from Book them it will not be good for Kelly imo. Book needs to up his game. No reason why he shouldn’t do better than last week. He looked better in his first season. I’m willing to bet Phil’s numbers on the road will better than Books at home last week. Book is getting what should be a powder puff game today so he better show up. Don’t like a sour grapes departure though.

Agree. You have to remember that ND gets everyone's best and it was the first game of the season so keep that in consideration.

Just to toss in my two cents: Duke looked pretty good after that first BC drive. Both these teams are physically tough. Decent teams. If the Duke QB settles down just a bit, Duke should win this close.

Jurkovec so far (and this is way too early to assess him) has played a mediocre high risk style of QBing. I am sure that he will get better unless his ego gets in the way.

Another thing about playing after playing ND. We beat a lot of those guys up. The player that "toyed with Tommy Kraemer" (LOL. He put him out of the game) is still out of the game --- dressed and limping off the field, not playing.

So that's a starting DT they don't have.

To add to what your wrote Mike; Duke’s defensive line is absolutely dominating BC in tube first half of the game.

Yes. We should take some heart at this. Duke's defense looks to be a very good unit. They don't seem easy to move the ball against at all.

Idk, I think he looks pretty good considering it’s his first game, new system, Duke’s second game, etc.

Great play there on the TD. Been some up and downs, but overall pretty good. Has a very good arm, pretty accurate and an effective runner. If he cleans up some of his decisions, he’s going to do well. I still wish we would’ve seen more of him here. I get (and agree with) the reasons why (on both sides), but it’s a shame.

I just hope BK does it different with the current backups when they get in a game. Let them play as a QB instead of just running out the clock so they can get true game experience.

The last drive was his best work and made 4 very good throws and athletic plays. He might not look like an ND caliber QB but not sure Book would have ever started at BC. He backed into his ND gig just like Reed did and has benefited from a solid O line, good RBs, TEs and WRs. Players at all positions that are being drafted

It’s one game so far for Phil and Ian and I hope they bother play great until we play BC and then we knock Phil silly!
