I always thought he'd pick a football school, but I'm surprised it's Tennessee.

There'll be a lot of playing time available when McKenzie goes pro. I forgot their other big DT as well, but they're both eligible for the draft after this year I believe.

Is ND not a football score?
score? Did you mean schooll? No ND is a academic school not a football school. At ND you have to go to class and they are real class that are hard that actually get you a meaningful degree whereas most schools especially in the SEC can more or less major in sports and get a shit degree but it allows you to be more ready for playing at the next level.

Tennessee will fire Butch Jones after a 6-6 season this year and PJ will fall into ND's lap. Book it

Clearly I couldn't get into ND.

Because BK goes to Tennessee and John Harbaugh tells PJ he's a DT whisperer?

Ohio State is one thing, but this really does not seem like a recruitment we ought lose to the likes of Penn State or Tennessee. BK better start saying nice things about his big brother at press conferences.

Visited Penn St. over the weekend. Crystal balls coming in from Wiltfong and Loy to Nittany Lions.

If this is over, it's more upsetting that ND couldn't land this kid early on just to flex their recruiting muscles on a legacy than it is because he's an absolute need. the '17 & '18 classes have introduced a lot of potential DT's to the future roster (if the Irish hold serve):

Darnell Ewell
Kurt Hinish
Myron Tagaviloa-Amosa (swing)
Jayson Ademilola
Jamion Franklin
Thomas Booker (swing)

If they don't hold serve, if Booker stays at SDE and Franklin doesn't become an above average DT while Mustipher shines at PSU (or wherever), this didn't work out as scripted.

Time will tell.

You forgot to bold the if's.

Booker's an if until he signs on NSD 1 or 2. He's the reason for the if's.

Jam's as close to done as you can get. Like 99.9% done. I'd bet the house he's a silent. Hopefully the staff turns the Opening Finals into a Notre Dame press conference with 4 commits that are expected... and maybe a surprise flip.

Interesting that Scout's Brian Dohn still thinks Mustipher would be better at OG. He was on II podcast recently.

Even if he commits to PSU, I don't see him sticking with them till signing day. How many PSU commits have we flipped in the past? To many for me to remember.

Darnell Ewell made the Opening Regional Final 5 last year as an OG over a DT.

Maybe Elko and Elston should wash their hands regarding PJ and let HH go after him (assuming HH would want him)? Sounds like PJ is set on being a DT though.

It's just a truism that makes you sound smart. Basically, if you evaluating a player based on athleticism alone, every DT canidate that is tall enough would make a better OG, right? Because OG take less athleticism.

I would love to have PJ but having Ewell last year, Jayson this year and most likely landing Franklin who is higher on the board this isn't as big of a blow as it would have been in the past. I know some staffs aren't extremely high on him and I remember reading a couple times ND wasn't recruiting him that hard for a while and was slow playing him. Believe ISD said it first and 247 said it again today. Plus Booker has the ability to be a lighting quick DT it's not the end of the world.

Still sucks losing a brother of a current starter and a top 150 recruit. But we've won so man huge battles against PSU lately that we frankly pulled major upsets over at the time that I can't be to upset about this. Good luck PJ and playing for that psycho and that fanbase who still supports that football program

Some dudes are just laying into Loy after his class prediction last week where he basically called PJ a lock

Also the DMV 247 mod has stated in the past that PJ will likely stay closer to home and likes that idea more instead of following his brother

I missed this post until today. This does not seem very good for his ranking and offer list

Lol, guy walks on water, until he trends away from Notre Dame. Now he's overrated.

I think that's unfair.

The ND talking heads have been pushing the idea that the staff has been higher on Franklin for a while and I agree with dad4 in that I was also disappointed with PJ's score. Emil Ekiyor who HH reportedly thought was not in good enough shape to recruit ran circles around him even though he's 50lbs heavier.

Ekiyor:

6-2.5 - 339 lbs

5.18 - 40

4.78 - Shtl

50.0 - PB

26.0 - Vert

Total = 101.97

Yea. Those numbers are not good and seem to validate what the staff must think. They don't view him as a disruptive DT, probably best positioned to play NT.

I'm not big fan of evaluating solely based on combine numbers, at this early stage of development, as a lot can change with maturity. However, what I will do is see if what is on film is somewhat validated, or not, by combine numbers.

For example, when I watch PJ's film I don't see a quick twitch DT. He's long, strong, uses his hands well for a HS Junior and he seems to understand leverage. Those are all traits of a solid DT, which I think he'll be. However, I do not think he'll end up being an extremely disruptive DT. He's not very quick off the ball, he is very deliberate in his movements, and seems to lumber a bit. I think these numbers validate that. It's mentioned that he's enamored with the idea of being a gap shooting 3T, which I don't see, and I don't think ND does. However, that is what Tenn. and PSU are pushing. I think he could be a very solid NT. So I think these numbers are another piece to the puzzle that says, he truly might not fit what Elko is looking for.
