I'm interested in what he had to say about the U$C offer. Awesome that he's skipping the DC regional for the BG game.

I didn't read the article but as a Miami U alum I can tell you that Markese's dad Marcus played with USC's RB coach, Delond McCullough in Oxford. It sounds as though they have remained close through the years. That's why Markese is giving it airtime.

A couple of things from his workout at the Opening NJ.

First off measured in at 6-0 - 228 This kid's thick. If they could only get more LB's that look like him.

Posted a nice shuttle, 4.34. PB and Vert were below what I expected at 35.0 & 31.7. I do find it odd that he reported a sub 4.5 right before he went to the Opening and then didn't run the 40 to back up the claim. But truth is at 230ish, a 4.4 40 is less meaningful and basically unicornish.

Is it good weight though? He missed pretty much his entire junior year due to a hamstring

Unless he's hiding a beer gut out front I'd say it's good.

if he is running sub 4.5 its not bad weight by any stretch.

I'll say it, no way he runs that 40 time in reality.

IMO, you can safely add about 0.15 and if I had to bet he's over 4.6 at the Combine or Pro Day in 3-5 years.

He committed after a 4 win season so I doubt he de-commits after a 10 win season.
I think prior to it actually.

Besides, John Harbaugh loves to run the ball. Why wouldn't he wanna play for the better Harbaugh?

No, he committed after a 10 win season (2015) and didn't deco after a 4 win season.

As to Cack's prediction... Don't care for it but I'm not in a hurry to lay any money on it one way or the other. I get the creeps about everyone in this class except Bauer, Jurko and Ovie

Agreed. Someone else is already in his head.

Edit: didn't realize it was from October. Still think he's a decommit candidate though.

Kid is from Indiana. Hood from NC. He's Irish on signing day save a melt down next season.

RB Markese Stepp plans on signing early with Notre Dame
Following a trip to South Bend for Notre Dame’s Irish Invasion camp, Indianapolis (Ind.) Cathedral four-star running back Markese Stepp is fully committed to the Irish.

Irish247 reported on Monday that four-star defensive tackle Jayson Ademilola was shutting down his recruitment and called himself a “done deal” to Notre Dame.

It looks like he isn’t the only one feeling that way.

Following a trip to South Bend for Notre Dame’s Irish Invasion camp, Indianapolis (Ind.) Cathedral four-star running back Markese Stepp looks fully committed to the Fighting Irish.

“Yeah, I’m pretty much feeling the say way Jayson does,” said Stepp. “This weekend helped out a lot. I feel great about where things are with Notre Dame. I still want to remain in touch with some schools, but that’s only just in case some thing happens. If there happens to be a coaching change or something like that, but I doubt it. I feel great about the direction of Notre Dame right now.”

Not only is he “pretty much” only talking to Notre Dame, but he plans on inking early with his future school.

“After this weekend, I’m pretty sure I’m going to sign early,” Stepp said. “This weekend was big for me. I don’t see why I wouldn’t. Everything was helped a lot when I was there this weekend.”

Defensive line coach Mike Elston was impactful early during Stepp’s recruitment, but as of late, it’s running backs coach Autry Denson that is the biggest factor. Their bond has been taken to new heights and they couldn’t be closer.

“Our relationship has grown so much,” said Stepp of Denson. “At first, things weren’t really like that and we didn’t talk all the time, but it’s so much different now. I’m really excited about how things are right. I’ve talked to him a lot, learned a ton about him, spent a lot of time with him. We’re great.”

Stepp continues to be, arguably, Notre Dame’s most active recruiter in the 2018 class. While in South Bend this weekend, the 6-0, 228-pounder took it upon himself to try and add to the Top10 class.

“I was talking to Shayne Simon, Cameron McGrone, Donald Johnson,” said Stepp. “I think we can get all of those guys. Cam says he wants to take his official visits, but I told him just to commit and then take some trips. But yeah, he needs to commit. Those three though, I feel good about all of them. I want them all at Notre Dame.”
