Maybe he was one of those players getting pancaked in the practice videos and just didnt react well to the lickin'? I mean, why would you quit mid practice unless you were pissed beyond acceptance or just humiliated and didnt feel you could compete?

Lax had mentioned something about him needing to be more physical. Maybe the staff was pushing him to step up his game and this just isn't for him.

If it is truly a family emergency, then I'd think BK and company would grant a leave to figure things out. Regardless, giving up on an ND education is not the answer no matter the circumstance.

Not sure what happened, but Driskell making it sound like ND has some part in this, and just isn't about Allen being unhappy with this playing time. Said it's a two way street thing, and that's all he would say about it.

If Driskell doesn't share more, I'll believe everyone else. I'm rooting for Derek but I'm rooting more for ND.

At least at that time, his dad was a member of 247 and shot those rumors down. And this isn't a situation of a kid being blown away on a visit and being hard sold for a signature. ND recruited him since he was a Sophomore. If any family, kid, and recruitment would know what ND was going to be like, it'd be this one. I have a hard time believing it's not about playing time.

I wasnt suggesting that he was sold a different reality, I just think sometimes kids hear things like: "It's going to be mentally tough, it's cold, we might not immediately play you, you're going to be very far from your family, etc." and they think "I can handle that" and it turns out they miss home, struggle with classes, don't bond with teammates, etc. I can say "I'm going to go on a run" today, but that doesn't mean it happens lol.

FWIW I do agree that playing time is the most likely thing here, but given our depth concerns at the position that means he must've been much further behind than I thought.

I grew up in Indiana and since moving to the South, I cannot fathom EVER wanting to go to Indiana again with the lone exception to be taking my wife to see her first ND game. And that sure wouldnt be late season for sure. So imagine a kid growing up in sunny GA with girls with short shorts 9 months out of the year and then moving to Sbend with the kid of eye candy ND offers and that kind of weather????

Not saying kids havent endured and cant endure. Just saying, it has to be tough period and not all kids have that.

On the other hand, lots and lots and lots of kids go to ND and absolutely love it and consider it the best four years of their life... The cold is cold, and everyone wishes it was warmer and sunnier by April, but they are still having a blast.

And for most of the Fall, it has great football weather, which counts for something.

For good kids like Allen, its not usually the weather and the short shorts, but family and culture (or lack of opportunity) that pull kids back south.

Getting 2 more db’s in this class is an absolute must now. Should be pretty easy to sell the early playing time opportunities. This should also add one more spot for this class so we are now looking at 20 or 21 instead of 19 or 20. And people were worried about making 85 lol.

This puts ND at 1 under. Schollie most likely awarded to Temitope Agoro for this year. Harrison Leonard is an option at sometime as well. Seems to be doing very well so far. If given to Leonard I believe that’d put this class back to the 19 or 20 because I’d assume he’d be on scholarship for the remainder of his career.

Some might struggle. I did ND for 25 years, and then Florida for 2ish and there is zero doubt which I prefer. I imagine Indiana is a tame version of ND. I was miserable in the South though with the weather. Humidity and heat got old really fast.

South Bend or anywhere close to those lakes is rough. I travel to W. NY/Erie PA often and that weather/wind in the winter is brutal.

3 hour difference between Indy and SB and, although Indy gets cold, it's nothing close to SB.

Not saying it is a deciding factor in this situation as I don't think it is. But that lake effect is no joke.

Well, if you asked the family, Lyght was who they’d credit a lot with his recruitment.

This has got to be reflective of very high standards at ND. I thought he did some good things in the BG game (well, he did one good thing I can remember). He probably understandably took badly the hype around Hamilton and maybe Litchfield moved ahead of him which is all good news for the future strength.
He could still flip back like McKoy did with USC and Lenzy with ND. If not I wish him all the best I enjoyed his recruitment and commitment. He was a 5 star for a while and when he commited it opened up Georgia for ND (maybe that is an overstatement).

Jalen Guyton went and put up some good numbers at North Texas and is an UDFA with Dallas, that's the best I could come up with tho.
